It's been since 2016 (2017 model year) that Mazda has radically updated the CX-5. I'm sure their focus in more on the CX-50, CX-70, and CX-90 lines, but this is your cash cow and it's beginning to look dated. It's still beautiful and the interior updates and some of the minor updates keep it fresh, but I feel like the CX-5 can be more of the CX-60 (Europe) with more modernized styling. I don't know, with interest rates going up, car prices going up, inflation, and less expendable change for consumers, sales for these vehicles aren't going to increase with just an update to 2023 with new paint and higher prices. Perhaps this is their plan for phase out as they announce CX-70, etc.
Thanks for info. I would NEVER pay extra for white but I would also never buy a white car. White, Silver, and Black have been so over used for way too long. White is a lazy manufacturer and dealer color option – they will always eventually sell.
That color is beautiful. I love tri-coat white paint.

The Premium, Preferred, and Carbon editions all had the Bose sound system & the Power liftgates removed due to the chip shortage. The 2022 editions initially had those features, which were slowly stripped away over the course of the year. For both options combined, buyers were given $660 off the price. I see they did not add those features back to those trim levels for 2023 either. That might be why the 2023's seam less expensive than the 2022's .
The big news that started with 2022s produced in June and now all 23s is that the power lift gate is not available until you get to the Premium Plus. We’re told it’s because of chip/supply chain shortage but still sucks as the Preferred trim had it and was the best bang for the buck trim for consumers; also explains why Premium Plus price increased the most. We still sell every new one we get in hours without exception.
Even more interesting is we are not seeing a ton of cx5 to cx50 cross shopping. My gut tells me both products will continue as separate models for the future.
Got more expensive for same features of 2021
if you are going to spend near $40k on an SUV, please put your big boy pants on and just buy an RDX, which offers more power, better fuel economy & sharper looks
So what are the actual updates, apart from price and paint?
Mazda, Toyota/Lexus and Honda/Acura are the most reliable car brands also because of the cautious steps taken in upgrading their cars, not like those brands chasing the "electric future", a clear stupid (political, "eco"-Marxist) direction as EV's have been proved more polluting (to name only one of their big deficiencies) than the efficient ICE's produced by these Japanese companies.
they might be cutting out heated seats or power lift gate in some trims due to chip shortage to keep price down

Mazda have nothing in their current line up that interest me, i was every pumped about the brand mainly because of the RWD inline 6 Mazda Atenza replacement, but Mazda only cares abound building a bunch of SUVs in the coming future, so i'll be taking my money and business else where.

Mazda needs way more colors. And unique colors for different models. Give the Miata a green or yellow, something fun. Pretty lame that the most optioned out Miata can only come in one of like 5 colors that are all also available on $25,000 suv

For 2023 , They removed Bose from premium trim .Bose is available only in premium plus 🙂 .
Seeing the CX-60 for the fourth time tomorrow and for the third time in Rhodium White (will even get to drive it on Saturday😎). It's a great looking colour and definitely more upscale than Snowflake White :))
Thoo I'm not sure if it's worth the €1200,- I'd rather go for Machine Grey at that price point.

My wife and I are out looking for a SUV and really like the extra large moonroofs that is offered in most. While I like how Mazda drives, my wife is giving a thumbs down on the small sunroof of the CX-5. Hope Mazda catches up with the rest of the manufacturers before they lose more buyers.
Did i missed something, I came to see what's new about the CX-5 and the only thing i saw was that prices went up, Oh and new colors for us market. Besides that another great review.

One new paint color…and higher prices. Lol. So glad I got my 2022 CX-5 yesterday. Dealer told me the 2022s are not being made anymore….2023 are now in production. My Premium Plus would have cost me $1500 more….
You missed the details…equipment changes…due to problems with the supply of tailgate motors, only top models will get this equipment…

The reason the price of the Preferred, CE and Premium either dropped or only increased slightly is because they no longer have the Bose Audio and Power Tailgate due to parts/chip shortages. For 2022 they provided delete credits off the MSRP for those items. So they just have the credits built into the 2023 MSRP from the onset.
What is the point of going premium if it come without power lift gate and bose. How can you call it premium if you have to open tailgate manually, lol.

Mazda may lose some sales—the power liftgate is really a necessity for some elderly and disabled, my wife included. Cx-5 was at the top of our list in the preferred or carbon edition but we will now consider other brands.
We just sold our 2021 CX-5 Turbo, Signature. Great vehicle with two exceptions. Non touch screen is unacceptable . Even more unacceptable, the 2.5 turbo is a oil burner. At 3,600 miles we started to get low oil light, Slightly under 1 quart per 1000 miles. Mazda has no fix nor a good explanation as to why so much oil consumption. The dealership stated they would overfill the oil to reduce the light.
2022 4Runner limited on the way, I've had it with 4 cylinder turbos.
