Essentially, north America doesn't have any R&D departments.
When you named a few brands, I legit couldn't name a single person I know of, not just co-workers or friends of friends, that owns one.
Jaguar, Aston Martin, Lotus, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and you might wonder if several of the bigger like GM and Ford will also die. The transition to electric drive will be brutal for many of these old obtuse producers and that's just one of multiple compounding revolutions going on like autopilot. A giant like VW has been struggling to do simple software for years.
Right on…
Tiny correction: Mitsubishi isn’t doing well in Australia either. Which is saying something because for years they made domestic models here that sold massively and were a top 5 brand. I think the only models that sell in reasonable numbers today are the Triton and the ASX, both because they’re basically the cheapest (non Chinese) options in their segments.
In My Opinion………..
Anyone who thinks any new BMW SUV is better looking than a slightly ageing Alpha must be wearing rose colours glasses.
Still……
I thought the UK car market would quickly grow out of Ugly Fat Overblown SUVs simply because they don't fit our roads and parking bays aren't very practical and are expensive to run. So what do I know
Are you not getting the Alfa Junior (Milano) in N America?
The "Mini" was originally an entirely British reinvention of the Isigonis designed Austin Mini (BMC) which was snapped up by BMW and BMW are hardly the most inspiring when it comes to updating their cars.
They've completely lost the plot of a small fun to drive everyday car and made it fat and ugly and too expensive.
One of my best cars ever was a 1996 Mitsubishi Galant! Still miss that car!
Buick is popular in the US as an affordable luxury brand. There are a LOT of Buicks here in the midwest. They need new management with vision. Wouldn't you rather have a Buick? Besides in the current economy, who can afford ANY new car?
9:08 Got it, so black poeple😂
Alpha Romeo is one of the car brands that Chinese Companies are attempting to buy. Along with many others eg Lancia. The Chinese will keep the brands and the Country where they are Headquartered, then make them both Hybrids and BEV's. Just as they have already done with Volvo, Lotus, Polestar, MG etc.
Stellantis, who own many off the old legacy Car Companies, are strongly resisting. However, as the Stellantis Companies sales start crashing, they will have to sell them off for pennies in the dollar.
Also, remember, Chinese Car Companies and individual Chinese businessmen, already own 19% of Daimler plus have taken small percentage holdings in other European Companies. Re USA Car Companies. Don't worry, no Chinese Companies nor anyone else in their right minds, wants to buy Ford or GM. GM in particular, is already on thin ice and is likely to either go bankrupt AGAIN or be split up and sold off. It's a disaster. Ford has possibilities of being saved but are not helping themselves out with their latest aim to go Hybrid, before BEV's.
Problems go deeper… individual brand failures are symptoms of rot within the auto group. Stellantis North America, for instance, is a structural disaster. Nissan and Mitsubishi are worse. Even groups like VW, Ford, GM, and Toyota are shaky… Global sales, especially China, are undermining legacy automakers everywhere.
You should pick on Stellantis. They have a ton of brands that were once successful and they're doing nothing with it.
Put the Ram back with Dodge and make Dodge the every man brand.
Bring back the Magnum and put a Hellcat engine in it!
Make fun, luxurious V8 land yachts put them under Chrysler and have them on par with Lincoln and Cadillac.
GM should have dumped Buick and kept Pontiac as a huge performance brand.
Alfa has one car and that’s Giulia. It’s very pretty and has the performance potential. Maybe they should have done the way of Subaru and concentrated on making that one platform a success before moving in with other models.
The new Buick Enclave is super nice especially the ST trim. I’m a single guy in my 20s so not my cup of tea, but the fact that I think it looks the best out of the triplets says a lot.
I would have said maserati too
i have a bad feeling about Volkswagen
Pretty good video! The less animated you are the more I enjoy watching what you have to say….
Also Tesla, because now that Musk has produced the daydream he had when he was 6 years old, the Cybertruck, he has lost interest in cars and wants to syphon Tesla money into his second-rate robots and AI ventures. In fact he is doing it already. As far as EVs go, Tesla was ahead when it was alone, but it is being overtaken by rivals now.
I think Infiniti is already on a rebound. I see so many QX60 driving around. I own a 2017 QX70s, would hate to see the brand I own a piece of keel over.
Fiat in Brazil, only in the last year, sold more than 475.000 cars. They are irrelevant in USA, but very strong in Latin America, Italy and Turkey.
I really like the new Buick vehicles as styling goes, they are also some of the most reliable American cars.
The Chinese don't even buy the Buick anymore, that's why they're trying to selling them back to the US market. There's a Chinese automotive youtuber that covered the topic stating that Buick got too expensive and not enough innovation when Chinese are crazy about their start up EV brands as well as their domestically manufactured BMWs, Audis, and Mercedes where pricings have dropped dramatically in the past few year. As far as MINI, I don't think it will go away. The sales are down due to them refreshing both the Cooper and the Countryman at the same time. I think the sales will pick up once people get used to the new design and technology.
Wrong about Buick, they are making money
Non electric cars, other than performance are dead.
Mitsubishi exists for people with a 400 Fico score, Infinity exists for those with a 450 Fico score.
Up until the late seventies Buick was a good brand. You had Oldsmobile, the smooth rider. You had Pontiac, the home of the GTO. You had Buick which was a combination of the two. Buick is the only one left and it has no difference from Chevy, other than an increased price. GM needs to concentrate on Chevy and let the others fail including GMC.
Mini how about a 50's retro pick-up?
Refreshing the retro cars always reminds me of Marge simpsons pink Channel suit 😂
Aerodynamics is why cars resemble each other.
maybe not so much then but definitely today
Gmc. Been around long time
Too bad all those cars are uncompelling
I wouldn’t argue that Mitsubishi may or may not fail in the US. However, I will argue that they do have a great product in the suv segment. Quality ranks high and value ranks very high. They definitely have gaps in their product line up.
i didn't notice that he has two-colored eye !!!
chrysler/stelantis needs a new good conquest ?
all what you say counts for europe too imho
