Good to know: shotgun shells (or any firearm rounds actually) are effective only when they are encased within an airtight barrel, which forces all the energy released from the detonation to push the round straight forward (no other way out but forward).
These shotgun rounds traps you can see in the movie are quite ineffective, because they lack a barrel. That, and half of the powder won't burn either, which means a weaker detonation, so even more ineffective.
