  1. G'day,

Hm I'm surprised there wasn't more modern/refit vessels seen in this like the Pr.1331M corvette or the cruiser Mikhail Kutuzov still the Tiger class had the right idea with those radar guided 6" HE-VT shells, Although a shock there wasn't a Saetta only the Douglas for missiles yet that goes back on a few things I've mentioned through observation of before about many naval players seen in these duels not having the most modern machines usually.

On another note "most" 3" HE-VT shells are useless the players probably should've tried using AP/HE/APHE shells against helis as they'll rip apart most aircraft easily like with more modern CIWS that fire APDS onto incoming theats.

One thing to note about the Falklands war the cruiser ARA General Belgrano was sunk by the submarine HMS Conqueror but they did indeed have a few duels with ships in those Westland Wasps/Lynx helis and one battle a Wasp duelling the stricken submarine ARA Santa Fe the heli was shot at via an Bantam ATGM (same AGM off the swedish huey).

Hm I may try tagging along in your discord for future events for the naval side to bring fore non seen machines into the mix.

  2. You should try a historical Japanese vs British air battle. They fought over australia and the pacific, I want to see i either could turn the tides of war. Could be interesting don't you think?

  3. I'm not sure if it has been done yet, but could you do every rocket-only ground vehicle in the game(Nebelwerfer/Katuysha) taking on aircraft in a sort of quasi-AA role?

  4. Now try it without the ballistic computers and see just how royally screwed the helicopter team would be…

I can't wait for the Biplanes vs Battleships video! I'm still a little annoyed that the IL-2 guy took so long to get noticed though…

  5. Wow the participants were shit at following directions this time around. Looked like half of the ship team's lineup was destroyers even with clear directions to only spawn in coastal vessels.

Also yeah the boat with the guided missiles is a premium in the American tech tree called the USS Douglass. It's been the bane of naval battles since its addition due to its missiles being multipurpose ones capable of anti ship and anti aircraft function. Definition of p2w.

  6. Predictions as a non-naval player: Helis will win against smaller vessels since those are more vulnerable to medium caliber rockets and autocannons compared to the larger coastal vessels. But the Helis will struggle against the larger and more heavily armored ships.

Also, Russian Helis will work better with unguided munitions, reason being is that they have access to heavier weapons. For example, the Mi-24P has access to a 30mm autocannon, 4x S-24 rockets and or 250kg and 500kg bombs (heli won’t get close enough to use them but an option), and the newer Russian Helis have access to S-13OF rockets. They also tend to be better armored in comparison to others.

Let’s see how my predictions play out.

  7. Seems like more helps should have been shot down is the ship switched their ai gunners to plane mode instead of ship mode. Only until the helos are out of range. Could also limit the engagement distance, any players that go outside that range 3 times are removed from that round.
