If you were thinking the receptionist/announcer was the one who created the nen barrier at first you probably weren’t fully wrong. Back at the hunter exam the examiner in the fourth exam wore the same uniform as the heavens arena staff, and we know examiners are hunters. Therefore the heavens arena staff probably have at least some knowledge of nen, so the receptionist might’ve been able to hold them back before they had ten.
Episode 27 and we just now learn about nen the main power system. It shows how good the writing is. Other shows would introduce this in episode 1 but HxH has masterful world building.

42:55 they had their 1st fight on the 1st floor where they evaluate if you can skip some floors.
In this case gon's evaluation let him skip to the 50th, while killua had previous fight records showing he had already reached the 200th and that allowed him to go higher.
So the woman said if gon fails to register his 1st fight on the 200s by the end of the day, he would have to go back to 1st floor where the avaluation takes place, but i guess from there he would be allowed to go higher as well, maybe to the 180th like killua was told to do when he came back to the tower with gon. While killua has already failed to register by the deadline on the 1st time he reached the 200s, and if he fails his 2nd chance he would be banned from fighting in the tower again.

Well, you have already somehow used to see a variant of nen because you watch JuJu Kaisen because the writter is a fan of H X H and you can see many references(even later stuffs introduced in H X H) in JJK. So, don't be surprise if you see some similarities between the 2 animes in the next episodes/characters.

unlike say, Vegeta, Todo Aoi or Teru, who are introduced with an antagonistic role, but it turns out they were just troubled and had some growing to do, you have Hisoka, who's heart is as black as night. ♦
