  1. “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”

  2. You guys have nailed it. It's hard to explain to a fellow Christian about us inheriting the earth. They are still in their mindset that we all go to heaven and the wicked go to hell but the Bible says something different. But my fellow Christians will not read their Bibles they go on whatever anyone tells them what salvation is.

  3. Hey Tim and Jon all this talk about Jesus preparing a place for us made me think of Matthew 12:40 something but in an upside down way
43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.

44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

46 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.

  4. Tim, I am a spam bot but I think I disagree… There is also the Transfiguration where Moses and Elijah make an appearance. Not quite the same as Samuel but it is still two people who died and are appeared again after death. Well Elijah didn't really die but Moses did

  5. @bibleproject, can you create a video explaining Christian Nationalism in the U.S.? So much divisive talk is turning many Christian’s away from the church in my community as it can be so toxic and anti what I know about Jesus. I’d love for you all to dive into it.

  6. I like the bible project but I do not like this episode.

How is it that 21st century believers think that 2000 years of theological thinking is suddenly inaccurate?

Each generation arises and thinks it has figured out what other generations could not. Worse still we somehow feel we have access to deeper insight – deeper than our Fathers in the faith.

This pleasant dialogue between these two gentlemen is just what it is – a dialogue that is not steeped in divine revelation. Guys please stop these fleeting and fanciful excursions. “
The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.” – Jer 23:28

  7. More than anything, I am hoping you do a podcast on hell. I caught a lecture you gave where you talked about this prevalent belief that hell is a place where bad people go and burn and I really wish there was time in the lecture to just listen to you expand on what you were talking about.

  8. I appreciate this conversation but frankly I’m more confused than before. Could we have a straightforward answer? Because there are people suffering in indescribable poverty and torture thinking all of it will pay off because they’ll be in a literal Heaven with streets of gold. Is it responsible to continue having them think like this if there’s no such thing?

  9. Deuteronomy 18: 9you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. 13 You must be blameless before the Lord your God.

  10. Hello, first, Thank you!
But… how can you believe that it was actual Samuel that spoke through the witch of Endor. Doesn't 1 Chronicles 10:13-14 say the opposite? If Saul didn't consult God, I don't think Samuel, a prophet of God, answered. You probably already answered this, could you share your answer? Thanks so much for all your work.

  11. @29:30 – Isn't the transfiguration of Moses and Elijah akin to the summoning of Samuel's ruach by the witch of Endor? I've always been curious why/how they show up on earth again, AND how they're recognized by the disciples.

  12. You know when Adam and Eve rebelled, were driven out of the garden of Eden and cursed. Their post-garden Eden life was on earth right? With their direct descendants? What's confusing is "Is the garden of Eden on earth" or "God teleported Adam and Eve to earth"?

  13. Thank you for focusing on the endgame: the resurrection of the dead and heaven and earth coming together! You opened my baby Christian eyes up to this reality years ago and has increasingly been my focus. Thank you for your service to the body of Christ!

While listening to this, God gave me a new perspective on Romans 8:39 —

“nor height [heaven] nor depth [hell], nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭39‬ ‭ESV‬‬

  14. Thank you for this conversation, a powerful and engaging medium – thank you. In discussion of this ‘hazey’ after life state you make no mention of the concept of sleep. To me it’s helpful since I pass from consciousness and return ‘safe and sound’ in bed in the morning, maybe this is what ‘Abrahams bosom means?
Thank you again, I’ve recently discovered you for myself and use the Book Overviews regularly now.

  15. Related to 24:23 .It is very interesting how our own cultural view results in coming to the conclusion that after death we become a disembodied being. Remember that this ideea is never taught in the OT (check PS. 6 for example) Than how can we say that Jesus taught this which would be contrary to His word? And regarding the thief from the cross who repented, the result of true repentence and acceptance of Jesus as a personal saviour is actually being in the garden or in the kingdom of God who just took root in his heart. Heaven in this context is not a geographical location but rather a state hidden in the believer. This state will become a reality at resurection when Jesus returns to make all things new.

  16. Hi @BibleProject, is there available an ebook-optimized format of this book you mentioned, for e-readers, not the Pdf one?
if not, are you planning to do one? would greatly help us who use the e-readers or even text-to-speech readers.
thank you! May God bless you!

  17. This is grand adventure in missing the point. The Bible Project's goal in this particular series seems to be shaming believers who use the wrong language about what the next life will be. It doesn't matter if people don't fully comprehend how to understand the language around the next life. When Jesus told the story of the rich man and Lazarus, the rich man is in a place of torment, while Lazarus is comforted. Why? Because the rich man never repented.
