It is interesting how people view the concept of Heaven and earth. We make earth a bit of Heaven by living the two great commandments of love. First; Love of God and Second; Love of others as thy self. If we live by these two commandments, the reward will be unbelievable and eternal.

The answer to your question "what happens after you die?" is that you are already dead. this is it. this is the afterlife. and collectively we are creating hell, because we have not taken care of the planet nor treated our neighbor as ourself. That's why Jesus said "The Kingdom is among us." eternity is reincarnation. we had our chance to establish heaven and blew it. if we are deserving, there might be an alternate earth for some or all of us. that's a big "if" IMO.

What happens when you die, well you die that’s all that happens. God clearly defined death in genesis as returning to dust.
What is meant in I Thessalonians 4:14 regarding being asleep? This has always puzzled me.
