In researching more about the sturdy computer and the inventory function, I never found anything about it being removed from the game. I only saw that a lot of people assuming that is was removed due to all the bugs.
I was also told in the comments that I wasn’t zooming in enough on the sturdy computer map for the details on the sea critter’s location.

The Sturdy Computer might be a help when the season changes – since it only shows for that day, you can't see ahead of time where the butterflies are going to be. You should get icons and can then place your traps in those areas.
The Merfolk – yeah, it is a bummer no one talks to you. In my opinion there should be placeholder dialogue. Even "hello" or thank you" or "welcome new friend, good to see you here". ANYTHING but dead silence… But what do I know…I'm not a developer, just a gamer for over 30 years… LOL!!
I stopped fertilizing when I hit osmium level seeds. I didn't test or collect data, I just went with my logic that at this level of seed I should be getting really good quality crops anyway. Otherwise, why level the seeds?
I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us that we don't lose out on anything whenever the next update drops.
