Heading out for Reactor 5 | Final Fantasy 7 | First Playthrough

Every time I open this game, I get more questions! Which I love. I’m loving the puzzle that is Final Fantasy 7. In this episode, we have an unexpected run-in with the Spectres, join Barret on a mission to Reactor 5, and get more questions than answers.

  1. 27:00 – That song (Victory Fanfarre) is in almost every Final Fantasy game. Used to play in the end of all battles on old games, but all modern one have at least some version of it somewhere.

  2. Here is something more to learn.

Under settings/option where you can set the CAMERA zoom out to 3 , it will make the camera zoom more out and that way you can see more on the screen.

The game has by default a really close 3d person look , but with that setting put to 3 you can make it more zoom out.

  3. I always get a kick out of hearing Jake from Adventure Time and Bender from Futurama's voice coming voice coming out of Heidegger. He's really amusing with how over the top he already is

  4. Quick little note! For the next two episodes I keep switching the words Mako and Materia around. No idea why, but hopefully you can figure out what I'm talking about by the context. I correct myself in Ep 6

  5. 11:15 (no spoilers) so when enemies in a pressure position use the ability with the word Focus it’ll fill the gauge more quickly to stagger them. Every character has a focus ability make sure to use it. Also when you level up a Spell materia you can use more powerful magic like Fire-> Fira-> Firaga in the battle press the right button to choose more powerful spells !

  6. 3:44 im sure u’ve noticed by now but if you havent, you can put the minimap on dynamic in the settings so it moves around like other modern games—i found it handy for navigating!

  7. Although Shinra are a company they essentially own Midgar, the city you are in, so the President is in fact more like a government leader than just the owner of a company. Midgar/Shinra for all intents and purposes runs the entire continent it's located on.

  8. Nice going on that fight with the 2 flametroopers and the missile launchers. I've watched a couple blind playthroughs of this game and you're the first one I've seen who hasn't died there. It's this weird brick wall of a fight so great job there.

  9. General rule for magic, in this game and others in the series.

    Human – weak to fire.
    Animals/bugs – weak to ice.
    Robots – weak to lightning.
Flying enemies tend to not like wind, although they are just as likely to absorb it depending on the game.

When assessing enemies, you can look up an "icon list" telling you what symbols on the right mean. L1 or left shoulder button should bring it up.
