Sure there is a lot more hotels and restaurants in places like Sanur etc than there were 20 years ago, but i can tell you this for a fact, there were a lot more tourists 20 years ago than there are now. I have been going to Bali since 1995, and during that time, i have been there about 40 times..!!.Apart from the flash resorts for those with too much money, Nusa Dua has nothing going for it.

I can understand what Paul is saying but the Balinese people need the tourists to help them make a living, there are places like Sanura that are quieter and not so many tourists that you can visit
Nusa Dua is not the real Bali!

I have been many time in Bali as Paul but to me Ubud is heaven and Seminyak my last stop before coming back to Southern Californiaโฆ but yes it has change a lot to building around too crowded and traffic is getting tooo crazy not to fun ๐
We stayed in Sanur in 2009 and now again in 2024.
It was very said to see the development. Never will go there again. So many mistakes such as ICON BALI. We prefere the North now it ist real Bali with friendly Balinese person. We Return on march maybe for the Last Time before also in the North there will be build a new Airport. We love spicy local food โค

We've coming to Bali since 1990 , approximately 64 times, I think the improvements are so much better now open drains, not getting harrased with vendors but each to there own, Bali is a place where you either love or hate it, we love coming it's our second home have already booked for twice next yr. Wouldn't live in Bali but for 3 to 4 weeks holiday fabulous….

Bali is magical still today. Find locals to show you whatโs important to them and their culture away from the tourist attractions. So many hidden gems that arenโt publicized on social media. We were there last year and are returning in 3 weeks
Nice interview. I hope they donโt build another airport on the north coast of Bali. If they do, that whole area may turn into another Kuta.
