How about just not having a mean dog.
Dogs are irritated by the smell of ink , Or material used to make paper , And other things usally used in packaging? Bake the printed paper with hot air fryer at 150 ° F for five minutes, Or using anti oder spray may help ?
This is an unacceptable hazard to these essential workers. They are just trying to deliver people's stuff and should not have to fear this type of serious injury. There have been delivery workers recently who experience a torturous demise from this. Think about that. They just went to work to deliver stuff and never came home. Not even a traffic accident… literally shredded alive on a nightmare day that was like any other up until that canine ran up on them.

Postal carrier bags and pepper spray are not enough protection. Sue the owner.
Don't deliver to those houses.
There will always be that dog owner that says “my dog doesn’t bite”. The dog will not bite people it knows but it will bite a stranger who to the dog is invading their territory.

I think the mailman are allowed to carry guns.
Just to clarify though anyone that trespasses on someone elses property and the dog bites you its not the dogs fault. If the dog bites you while you not in their property then its the dog/owners fault.
