It’s been a long time since I’ve been into a game like I have been with Anno Mutationem. It’s easily one of the most beautiful games ever made, has an awesome soundtrack, and is dripping with style. The plot may be nonsense, but it’s beautiful nonsense that pulls on your brain.
The style isn’t just skin deep. This game has character and it’s characters have character. There’s just character everywhere. The little bits of dialog from NPCs, the homages, and the ridiculous nonsense make this something special.

Just a slight correction, Ayane isn't an AI, she's a girl in a wheelchair. Not sure if that was in the original ending, but as of June at least you take her to the beach after the ending credits.
The game is really good and I'm only two hours into it. I think my biggest gripe is the combat but I realized really quickly it will come to fruition as I unlock more of my abilities. Double jump, counter, dash, fireball, etc. I really felt vulnerable at the start of the game and it's understandable since you'll get stronger with progression. I have already committed to the EN voices and plan to finish the game like that but my next play through will be in CN. Not often do I say that I want to 100% a game or know the story from start to finish. Normally the metroidvania's stories are extremely vague you're going to a youtuber to decipher the whole thing because you're finishing a game with barely any clue why you did it.
I was absorbed the whole time and I had to get off to get some sleep before work. This is such a sleeper title but it looks so amazing and I thought others would look into it. I will strongly be recommending this game to other friends.
Game looks nice, but i will pass. the hacker character obsessing over the protagonist was cringe for me. i ended up returning it.

your suggestions to replace quest markers is just as bad – all you've done is theoretically add another 2 layers of quest markers by speaking to NPCs and then searching for the location of the NPC you're really after – every time I've come across this mechanism in a game the writing has always been very poor with generic uninspired dialogue and then you inevitably end up being frustrated running in circles trying to find the actual location of the NPC/objective you're actually after – what they've done here for me is is a actually QOL feature to not waste my time even further.

I mean ..Every second that passes in this video makes me want to buy the game more, and when you got to the voice acting and started swapping to Japanese and Chinese just hit the spot for me and I just have to have this game!
Unfortunately, I loved this game to death and understood the plot because said plot is based off of one single thing that made the game infinitely more enjoyable.
This game’s world is essentially a S.C.P. Parody. If you are a fan of S.C.P. This game is so much more fun. Every monster or location you find you see S.C.P. Easter eggs everywhere. That monkey doctor is literally Dr. Bright. Hell said monkey doctor’s name is B!
Edit: ok maybe not understood the plot as said plot is all over the place but still. Knowing the S.C.P. Foundation makes with game so much more enjoyable.
If you liked anno, I IMPLORE YOU TO PLAY ASTRAL CHAIN. It’s got a similar atmosphere and setting, but in full 3d, and the combat is fucking incredible

Very excited. I just got this game on sale yesterday. I think though from what i gather Ayane isnt an AI. She is a hacker girl just using the little android to project herself, but she is physically at her house. Some of the character bio mentioned she is a rich girl who got sick, and is basically at home in her mansion with a butler taking care of her.
Is there a difference between the ps5 and ps4 versions?

i wish there were more things like the arena. i was disappointed that you could not do the arena again for money since money is kind of locked behind story progression besides the minibar game which is awesome!
