Haunted Mansion HOLIDAY With Disney Imagineers | Behind The Scenes Secrets Holiday Overlay

I had an amazing experience at Disneyland. I was invited to hear from the Disney imagineers that created the Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion Overlay. I was able to hear their stories and ask them questions.

  1. Chris you are literally living my sister's and my dream in this video. Haunted mansion is our shared favorite ride ever. Every Halloween we lived in the same house after I got out of the military and moved to Texas I would play the theme song from my car in front of the house that she decorated with huge decorations and great detail. It brought a beautiful ambiance to the experience. It doesn't hurt that her birthday is literally the day before Halloween.

  2. Well, I was excited for this at first, but…. I don’t like “ Nightmare” and I don’t think it belongs in the Haunted Mansion (or Disneyland or Disney World for that matter), so I was disappointed. 🙁

  3. Holiday Haunted Mansion is the only amusement park ride, both Disney and non, to scare my nephew. Haven't been to a park or fair since the pandemic started, but he'd casually look around while riding a roller coaster like one might do riding a merry-go-round. The kicker is he likes NBC.

  5. Dave Atkins used to be one of my managers in Outdoor Vending before he moved to Attractions. I once got to work with him again when Pirates broke down (I needed to use the freight elevator to the left of the restrooms, behind the "saloon doors," but due to the evacuation I could not reach them). He was among cast members handing out FastPasses to those who had been stuck on the attraction for a while, and he allowed me to help.

I had a lady come up to me with a special situation (one that was more intense than other riders had experienced — her kid REALLY needed to use the restroom before they were evacuated, and wasn't able to hold it) and I took her to Dave who hooked her up with a voucher for a new set of clothes for the kid.

He was a REALLY good guy to work with. I have a LOT of respect for Dave Atkins after my experiences with him. I'm glad to see he's still there making magic. Not only is he a good boss, but making magic is something he's REALLY good at.

  6. This was really cool to see, the only thing I really wished we would be able to do though is ride the original version for Halloween, thats one thing I really want to do just once in my lifetime. Jack is great and all, but I'd rather want to see the Mansion in its normal form during October just once. If they could do the overlay starting in November that would just make things perfect in my book.

  7. Thanks for sharing this unique experience. This has always been one of my favorite attractions, with or without the overlay. I could literally go on this over and over again many times in a row. No trip is proper or complete without enjoying this attraction at least once, but of course multiple times is always better. I've been watching many of your videos lately so I've subscribed and set to receive notifications. I am enjoying your content. Thank you!

  8. I always assumed that Oogie Boogie wasn't Big Al since he had totally different moving patterns from the Big Al animatronic, but everything else was so cool to hear! It's always good to see that there are still passionate people working on projects around the parks and are still working around the clock to make sure that the experience can be the best it can possibly be for everyone.

    Thanks for the video Chris!

  9. Would love if you matched brightness of your close up shots of yourself vs disney park. The brightness is so intense of you (esp while watching videos at night) that I have to turn it down, but then I want to see the detail of disney rides so then I have to toggle the brightness back up. It's like when you have to ride the remote on TV when commercials come on due to the volume limiter that editors use. Just 2cents for improving your channel and viewer experience! Thanks for all you do, love the channel and who you are.

  10. I remember when they had a Haunted Mansion Holiday event. It typically had stars from the film. They would give a talk and then we could ride the ride!! The highlight was the special gift they gave away at the end of the night. I hate they stopped having this fun event.
