We are coming to the end of one of the most singular post war Premierships – and the demise of a Prime Minister who entered No10 just over three years ago, saying his mission was to restore Britain’s faith in itself.
The following December, Boris Johnson won the biggest Conservative victory since Margaret Thatcher swept to power in 1987. Newsnight reflects on the recent meteoric rise, and spectacular fall of the man.
Was he entirely the architect of his own misfortune, or is that wide of the mark? The chronicler of Prime Ministers, Michael Cockerell, famously charted Boris Johnson’s journey to the top in a landmark documentary almost a decade ago.
As we enter the final days of the Johnson era Newsnight asked him to update the story and assess the prime minister’s fall and legacy.

Can’t stand the BBC and its shallow and pathetically skewed journalism. Let’s destroy this propaganda organisation before it destroys Britain.
People like Boris and Nadine etc… are uninsultable.
nadine dorries is such a comical figure. like a parody 😂😂😂 i kinda love it actually.
—- > Sorry to see PM Boris Johnson leave, who successfully navigated the UK through Brexit, a champion of democracy and human rights in his support of Ukraine..
"Oh, he's dreadful…"
Coming from Mark Drakeford that's pretty depressing, admittedly.
100% agree, however.
I am so angry with them because from silly guys we suffer

Our most successful prime minister in a generation; biggest cringe I've ever had to something Nadine Dorries said.
nadine dorris loyalty borders on foolishness
bojos favourite song
"it's my party and I'll lie if I want too "
And I don’t think anyone will put up a statue for Boris.
Whoever narrated this film is great. His mellifluous tones are perfect for such a job. It seems the BBC always use him to sum up the career of prime ministers and there impact (or lack of).
Sadly Johnson represents all that is shallow and insidious with our culture, a biased class system, the privileged few who rise to the top regardless of ability or talent. No wonder confidence in the system, be it political or otherwise is at its lowest ebb. No one with a brain cell seriously believes that this man is the best this country has to offer.
One hopes that things will change because they have too. A new aware generation with new ideas for change is our only hope. 🙏❤️.x

Live in peace
Good riddance to the lying crap artist!!
Love how the BBC choose to interview only people who dislike Johnson .. or have some other alternative motive. The way Johnson was set up with party gate should also be investigated.. That whole saga seems very .. pre meditated to taint , smear and eventually be used as an excuse to get him out.
you 'll miss this man (boris) marked my word . As american regret sleepy joe right now .
Boris the bafoon

if Michael Cockerell read my high school textbooks, i'd have been in oxford by now.
What an inappropriate title for an article from an organisation that says they are politically neutral.

How fitting the BBC should do this documentary lol Alls I heard for 6 months was the BBC and Sky news giving him a hard time. They gave people defending him a hard time, but asked soft questions to others attacking him. Of course, for people hating Borris, that bias got past them, but for me, the BBC is supposed to be a trusted news service – free of bias, corporate influence and so on. Thats why they are funded through our tax – which I was happy to pay many years ago before recent events such as Brexit, Trump, vaccinations, and the Ukraine war has made me lose trust in mainstream news I
🤣 the job is done
Getting in to Russia by the Ukraine. The Uk unfortunately dug out is one grave… next PM gets the shave.
How dare he compare himself to Wilson Churchill?! Churchill knew better then Boris Johnson.
SHAME,SHAME.BORIS JOHNSON,.
