Greece helped a lot in winning WW2 by delaying the germans invasion of the Soviet Union by two crucial months.Becuase the had to invade first the Yugaslavia and next greece to help Italy and those two invasions costs the germans those two crucial months of April and May thus the germans couldnt capture Moscow because they didnt had enought time because winter came.

The outrage in germany was absolutely insane as greece nearly went bankrupt. Politicians here were suggesting that Greece should sell their Islands, Airports or whatever to pay their debt. The EU (or the ESM to be more precise) forced them to stick to a harsh dictation on what and where they had to save to get more Money from the EU to pay back there debt – Germany hardly advocating for this. And all of this because 90% of their debt were with german banks. So if Germany was giving greece 100m €, they`d just hand over about 90m of that to our beloved banks. But the greek people where the "iditots" who were "robbing the germans from their hard earned money" (press coverage went something like that). What an amazing time to be alive xD
