Halo and 343i face “reboot” after delays, mass layoffs, and fan backlash

Halo and 343i are currently on fire after multiple leadership changes, mass layoffs, many content delays, and fan backlash. Some have begun speculating heavily about the future of Halo as a franchise but apparently, Xbox hopes to refresh 343i and Halo as a means to stay in the fight. All the details are in today’s roundup.

In other news; Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is delayed, Rumbleverse and Knockout City are shutting down, Xbox is delisting 46 games, and Sony is ending the PS Plus Collection.

This week’s comment section analyzes the dark depths of capitalism and the “Coming Soon” section is really small this week but features Hogwarts Legacy – which will certainly have a completely normal and calm review period.

  1. 343 fans absolutely refuse to accept that the halo campaigns aren't very good. If their not going to let other companies work on halo, at least hire better writers. Infinite feels like another wasted campaign with no destination in mind. The stakes rn are so unclear.

  2. Halo isn't getting rebooted, 343 and Phil have all said stuff is continuing forward, Phil even hinted on the Tatanka mode that's been in development for years. People who think Tatanka is actually switching to unreal when it's almost done are crazy. Do not believe all these "reportedly" reports out there saying it is. Future Halo projects maybe, but i highly doubt it especially since Slipspace just now feels like it's in a decent spot. Tatanka will come out this year and will be in Slipspace i can 99% guarantee that from what I've seen.

  3. I find myself not interested in any new releases the past few months. Which is sad, because I just came out of a contractual project and was looking forward to consuming my newfound freedom with games before looking for employment again. Sigh. I hope to gaming Jeebus, Starfield doesn't disappoint like Callisto Protocol and Forspoken did. Ixion at least was nice. But way too short. Every other game nowadays seem to force multiplayer, be a remake, or just be 8 hours long.

  4. After all the missteps 343 has made with the Halo games I'm ready for the franchise to be handed over to a more deserving developer. For now I'm sticking to the books made for the property instead as they've been much more satisfying for me to spend my time on as a whole.

  5. How pathetic is this. Seriously, after all this time, all this funding we are finally hearing the real state of how 343 was in. How does Xbox even put up with this? How do they keep funding them? When they have shown time & time again they aren't capable of producing Quality Halo content & they aren't honest or upfront about when they are having problems. They promise things they can't deliver. The only thing keeping real halo alive is the halo community and community modders and honestly I feel like Xbox would be way better off having a bunch of them help with making halo content. I don't get how 343 doesn't understand how to make halo content… Why is Xbox still giving them so much funding? It makes no sense..
