My blind let’s play/ playthrough of Return to Monkey Island! It’s been such a long time coming, and I never expected it, but Return to Monkey Island is finally with us! Ron Gilbert, Dave Grossman and co have released a brand new Monkey Island game that will finally answer the questions we had at the end of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge!
In this episode, we head back to Wally’s Map Shop to see if he can help us out with a Map for the Mop Tree! We see there’s another Monocle on the desk, so we take it and combine it with the other one to increase the magnification! Then we talk to Wally who tells us he can make a Map if we bring him a piece of wood from the mop! We head back to the SCUMM Bar to find somebody sitting at a fancy table, and he decides Guybrush is now his waiter! We go into the kitchen to ask the Cook about the dish and apparently he wants something that he ate at the Governor’s Mansion before! We head to the mansion, but Carla won’t let us have the Ingredients Book, so we go back to the Museum of Pirate Lore and use our new Super Monocle on the lock! We go to Locke’s place and swap the Parrot Cracker Mix with the Stale Crackers on the side and then ask her to make the Key! Then we go back to the Museum, feed the Parrot the Crackers and take the Eye Patch! We go back to the Voodoo Lady to get it enchanted, but of course she needs something else! We pick up the Dagger whilst we’re there though!

I didn't notice the second monocle when we return to Wally's shop (concentration lapse), because I didn't think the game would need me to find two of the same item (assumption). That just seemed too straightforward for a zany game like this. So I wasted time thinking I needed to lay my hands on the locksmith's special tool. I also made an assumption about how to get Carla to forgive Guybrush about not returning a previous book. I thought Guybrush would need forgiveness from Elaine at some important point in the game and I didn't realise the same thing I had found was to be used instead with Carla. Assumptions and loss of concentration are my two biggest problems playing games like this.
You should take another look in The Voodoo Lady’s place. There might yet be something useful there. 😉
