  2. I listen to these all the time mostly at work. Once I got over the fact that it was a AI narrator which i dont like but its the way things are getting to be. Love hearing about the war from a former enemy's perspective.

  3. 25:58 500 rounds a minute with red hot barrels. My biggest conflict in my life was standing up to an abusive boss, and these guys were using red hot machine guns in a far away jungle against hordes of screaming soldiers trying to kill them.

It really puts things in perspective.

  4. Guadalcanal is the most epic battle in the history of the US. It wasn't a battle per se, but a campaign that lasted 6 months, blow for blow….25 ships sunk on each side…tremendous bravery and casualties on both sides (far more for Japan though). Think of the greatest and longest and bloodiest heavyweight fight you have ever seen……that was Guadalcanal.
Fun fact: more US sailors died in the oceans around Guadalcanal than Marines and solders, airmen, etc. A literal bloodbath with superhuman sacrifice and courage.
After the war….interviews with Japanese officers were conducted. They were asked "when did you know the war was lost?". They said Guadalcanal.
