GRANDPA TO THE RESCUE JUDGE BOYD IS IMPRESSED

The tension in the courtroom was thick as Grandpa, a weathered man with a face that spoke of a life spent working hard, stood before the judge. His grandson, a brilliant but troubled young man, was facing court-mandated commitment to a mental healthcare. His fierce love for his grandson, his unwavering belief in his potential, and the detailed plan resonated deeply. A rare smile from Judge Boyd appeared. This wasn’t just a case; it was a testament to the enduring power of love and a well-worn calloused hand reaching out to steady a faltering future.

  1. Bless this man. I don't know what happened with this young man so he ends up on felony probation, but it's so refreshing to see a family member who is like this grandpa. He's not making excuses, he's focusing on supporting his grandson by participating with probation and providing a supporting and loving environment. I hope the young man can keep up with his medication and treatment, and keep moving in a positive direction.

  2. He lost me with the church thing, exposing that young man to those types of cults will not help him! I don’t care with anyone else says religion, organization, or a subway for people to hide their true evil deeds.

  3. THIS man IS a "Grandfather"!!! Too many children know nothing about where they come from; HOW can they know where they're going?! IF you are a genuine 'man', you never stop caring for or LEADING your Family. BE A PATRIARCH!!!! I pray my grandchildren feel this way about me. What I've wanted more than anything in life is to be a good father, an inspiration to my progeny.

  4. This grandpa clearly loves his grandson and is doing the best he can to help lift him up, support him and get him on the right path. Mental illness is devastating to the whole family and can be unpredictable even if a person is on meds. I'm thinking this young man's demeanor is reflective of him being on medication. As to the criticism regarding exposing him to religion and religious activities, if his mother is an evangelist as was stated, he has probably been exposed to religion his entire life so this probably isn't a new thing for him. It sounds like his grandfather has his back and is monitoring that aspect of his life — probably participating along with him. This young man is lucky to have his grandpa by his side.

  5. From experience. When one Godly person like this Grandpa models genuine Christianity to a young person, there is a great chance the young person will get to the Cross himself, be remorseful for what he's done, accept Christ's offer of forgiveness, and turn his life to live for our Savior, Jesus Christ. When we honestly do this, we consciously seek to live for Him as Lord, and it's the beginning of growing up into more mature, Godly people who increasingly reflect the character of Christ. We all need the benefit of being in a good, solid church of loving, truth-living people, holding each other accountable, studying Scripture, and growing in our prayer lives, too. Along the way, we grow closer to the Lord, becoming humble, yet stronger! We think for ourselves, yet respect authority. If we need meds, we take them. If we haven't finished school, we do it. If we don't have a job, we get one. It's a life long journey in which the Lord molds believers into the people we were intended to be. We live it in faith, taking responsibility for our decisions and consequences. And we learn to love others, forgive, and be forgiven when we need it. The icing on the cake is knowing that, even though this old, Christian Vietnam vet Grandpa will pass away one day, our Savior's Resurrection insures that this young man will see him again in heaven, along with Christ and all other believers. There is more, but I've already written a lot so I'll stop.

  6. What an amazing Grandpa! You know that troubled boy wasn't an angel all the time. Grandpa worked through it like a champion and the boy accepted the help. Such a feel good story. If I see this go bad I will be SO disappointed!

Mental illness is hard on a family, and without support we have seen where it leads. I’m so glad they got each other!

  10. Grandpa is for sure a good influence in the grand sons life. Grand dad is paying attention to his grand. It seems that if people do their best the judge works with them. You sure dont see an involved family member like this in this court room. This young man is lucky to have this grand dad.

  11. If parents spent less time handing their children everything they ever wanted, and more time showing them how they can give to others, this world would be a much better place. What a loving grandfather. 😊

  12. Love Judge Boyd but her sentences are so light which creates bigger crimes because criminals scoff at the system. She talks tough but is always at the lower end of the guidelines.

  13. Don't take your grandparents for granted! Years pass by quickly and poof, they're gone. Sad fact is most of us will live our adult lives without them. When you're young it feels like they'll be here forever, along with your parents.
