A person has died after a shooting happened in east Charlotte Tuesday afternoon.

According to Medic, they responded to a reported shooting in the 3700 block of Audrey Street, which is located east of Eastway Drive and north of Shamrock Drive in the Shamrock Garden Apartments complex.

When Medic arrived on the scene, they found two men who had been shot, one of which was pronounced dead. The second person was taken to the hospital to treat his non-life-threatening injuries. Neither victim have been identified yet.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed to WCNC Charlotte it is conducting a homicide investigation due to the shooting.

The grandmother of the injured victim told WCNC Charlotte’s Kayland Hagwood on the scene the two men who were shot are friends and were shot by someone else. Law enforcement would not confirm that allegation.

“I was at home not knowing that this had happened to [my grandson,]” the grandmother recounted to Hagwood. “That’s when I got the phone call from my daughter telling me that my grandson had been shot.”

It is unknown at this time the reason for the shooting or if there is a suspect description.

The grandmother has a message for who did this to her grandson.

“The only thing I can just say is, y’all are cowards,” the grandmother said. “If you wanna settle something, get in a boxing ring. Put on some boxing gloves and do what we used to do back in the day. We didn’t have to resort to guns. It’s just senseless. For the people that did this, I hope you know that this is not over. You’re gonna get caught.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or http://charlottecrimestoppers.com/.

  1. People who do this usually get the same in return and then is a endless cycle that can only be stopped by having fathers raise their families. Find a man, have a family and never sell him out for some government change
