Grading Each Track Coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in Wave 6

I graded each new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tracking coming in Wave 6 of the DLC. Which ones are the best? Which ones are the worst? Are there any that are trash?

Footage and photos of the tracks were used from Nintendo’s launch trailer: https://youtu.be/0-kASUEEXn8?si=bRcZMol8zQA1aFJg

  1. With Wave 5, I couldn't give any S or A grades, and I feel like I nailed my grades back then. Maybe I was a little rough on Squeaky Clean Sprint back then, but that was more than offset by my foresight on Not-So-Sunset Wilds, and I was (to borrow a line from Marisa Tomei in "My Cousin Vinny") "dead-on-balls accurate" with all 6 other grades for that wave (though I can only claim that level of accuracy with Athens Dash and Moonview Highway because of the stipulation that a B was the highest grade I could give back then, as both are deserving of an A if they had been part of any other wave). However, this is about Wave 6, and to maintain the grading balance, courses added this wave will receive only S, A, or B grades.

S: Piranha Plant Cove (would probably have been an A in a "normal" wave and definitely a B if it had been part of Wave 5; as with Rome, see A section, I'm not sleeping on this one, and I fully expect this to be the best underwater course in all of 8 Deluxe, not just the Booster Pass), Madrid Drive (see 5:11 of this video, and that's all you need to know for this grade), Bowser's Castle 3 (do I really have a grudge with Bowser and not like Mario Kart just because I'm not giving it an A? really? when I'm giving it this grade? )
A: Rome Avanti (would probably have been a B in a "normal" wave and a C or even a D if it had been part of Wave 5, but Sydney has taught me not to sleep on city courses as long as the home country isn't USA), DK Mountain (another course that would be a B in a "normal" wave, but a B is the absolute floor for a Double Dash course's grade as long as it isn't Baby Park, but I have yet to re-evaluate Baby Park in 8 Deluxe after learning about bagging there, but that's a story for another comments section), Daisy Circuit (this one just looks amazing, and I have a feeling that it will be the second-best course of the wave after I've had the opportunity to play on all 8 of the new courses), Rosalina's Ice World (this grade is based on the visuals and the surprise factor, as it was the only course of the wave that wasn't predicted weeks or months in advance; that said, I would be a little surprised and more than a little disappointed if I have to drop the grade after actually playing on this course)
B: Wii Rainbow Road (would have been an A in any of the first 4 waves, as that would still leave room for the Rainbow Road from Double Dash, with the fact that Double Dash's version isn't coming to the Booster Pass being the sole reason this has dropped to a B in this wave)

I may be setting myself up for disappointment with these grades, but I set the bar low with Wave 5 and (even with those low expectations) was still disappointed by the first 2 courses of the Cherry Cup, so by setting the bar high this time around, maybe I'm still finding a way to understate the praise for Madrid and at least one other course in this wave.

  2. Ngl, the bowser castle new visuals make it look like it was inspired on a mario galaxy bowser castle, I don't know what it is, probably the lava on the sides, the map itself that looks like it is made by a lot of slopes instead of traditional flat ground and some of the fire flying around without being geysers, but I love the vibes of it.

  3. My predictions:

    Rome Avanti: A
    DK Mountain: A-
    Daisy Circuit: C+
    Piranha Plant Cove: S
    Madrid Drive: A+
    Rosalina's Ice World: B
    SNES Bowser's Castle 3: A+
    Wii Rainbow Road: A

This is looking like an extremely strong wave. Though I have a (possibly) unpopular opinion. I think the Tour version of Madrid Drive sounds better. The full orchestra of violins breathes life into that track's music. The single violin also sounds good, but doesn't hit the same compared to the Tour version and fan renditions of what Madrid could've sounded like in 8DX.

  5. Two Piranha Plant tracks in the same wave would have been sort of odd, but leaving it as the one and only new Tour track not making it in is far more strange. I would trade oddness for the ability to play it in a good game rather than one that I hate.

  6. It looks like they added a new shortcut towards the end of the track in Rosalina’s Ice World, which is pretty cool for a track that lacks shortcuts.

Also Fuzzies and Rocky Wrenches are confirmed to make their 8 Deluxe debut in Rome Avanti which will be awesome!
