The Australian’s foreign editor Greg Sheridan says the Albanese government and the opposition have used AUKUS as an “excuse” to do “absolutely nothing else” in Australia’s defence force.
“AUKUS is kind of make-believe at the moment,” Mr Sheridan said.
“We have an unbelievably feeble defence force.
“The government is taking AUKUS as a license to do nothing else.”
