A mysterious black sphere is discovered in the orbit of Mars. The ship Achilles is sent to investigate. After the battered crew of six awakens from eight months of hibernation, the sphere transmits a single word in every language known on Earth – “Deus”.

  1. Listening to these descriptions are horrible. I'd probably watch this (good or bad), but after the mind-numbing narration, I want to jump into a black hole.

  2. You'd think the elites would put their efforts into the "none killing" solution like terforming other planets but even in reality its just the simple answer of "cull the people"

  3. Hang on, this far into the future they didn't send a whole bunch of probes to the black sphere to find out what it is before risking a manned mission?

  4. It's really interesting how some of these movies I have never heard of despite searching for "science fiction" in Netflix or Amazon Prime aimlessly at 1 am dreading going to work in 6 hours. Thanks.

  5. Is Richard Blackwood absolutely awful and embarassing in this, like everything he's ever been in? He used to do a lot of presenting stuff, and god help him, he's a tubesteak, a completely hopeless bellend. The cool kid in school except he's 40 years old. But I dunno maybe a good script saves him, or else he shuts up a lot.

  6. 6:02 Biggest Scifi crap ever. Magical settings can have new elements but how can you rationalize an element that doesnt exist on periodic. You can make an argument for an special alloy but not for some new element with very high atomic number that is also stable and non-radioactive. This movie is biblical crap just like stories within bible.

  7. This is more contrived than the (now defunct) Galaxy's Edge Hotel Experience of becoming Jedi for 2 weeks.

They wanted to engineer a way to kill billions of people by using their latent faith, so they could blame "god" and solve overpopulation. It's not impossible, it's just poorly delivered, because if you are going to go to this length, you don't create an honest actor. You create a duality of good and evil, the pretense that there's a choice, or hobson's choice in destroying god, or following god and jumping into hundreds of death portals that will arrive. And, you have the AI reveal this 'haunting fact instead of a shady CEO. And the 7 years in space problem … Leads into a biblical reference for purgatory sic, so there's room to explore the plot contrivance from different POVs.

Because once you add 'eyebrows', there's a different premise going on, that it's still a ruse.

Sort of like the Watchmen conspiracy with Ozymandias at the end of the film, where they blame Aliens or Dr Manhattan for killing people, when it just turns out to be Ozymandias trying to take control of the planet. And, succeeding. Kind of.

This also requires a conspiracy among millions of people. Not hundreds. You need to filter all kinds of content, deliver a 'misinformation' campaign, propose an 'official' and 'unofficial' line, and court both audiences. Not hard, just very expensive. As in, you need to have the resources to build a satellite in orbit of mars, in secret, then proceed to make it into a public story. And, because you need people across nations to also buy into this, you need to make it seem plausible, which requires a few years of brain-controlling an entire batch of scientists, engineers and nobody can figure out what the game/scenario is. The concept is, somehow, a WEF-like organization of billionaires decide to create a scapegoat/judas goat, in order to have people pay their government/overlords to "eat the bugs", "own nothing and be happy", "jump into the death portal and see your dead relatives", sic.

It's a similar concept to Soylent Green, where they convert/grind the elderly into plankton based protein bars to solve food shortages. Except, Soylent Green makes more sense, it's cheaper and once people know what Soylent Green is, they don't care. It solves too many social problems, so even though people know, they still want the food.

This, on the other hand is … ferociously expensive and impractical. You can really only achieve this by having technology and a population stupid enough, but also desperate enough to achieve this nihilistic point where Billions have to sacrifice themselves for the few to live on.

by finding 'popular' scientists, killing their families, giving them a job to explore space, implanting a brain control chip that would alter their personality in a proscribed way to act out the farce, all while actually building a martian space base in orbit of mars, and then sending this contrived conspiracy back to the population.

The sensor malfunctions and so on, are because the entire situation was planned out as a multi-billion dollar 'prank' to convince the crew. Somehow, they also needed to sacrifice a few people by 'somehow' switching on a brain implant that turned them into killers.

  8. Or they could just spend money to use media and science to misinform the public into taking an experimental medical procedure to artificially alter messages that their dna use
