Welcome to episode 3 of my Pacific Drive Let’s Play!

  1. 37:45 Being thorough early will absolutely save you a lot of time later. Some stuff, like plasma and thermosap, is always in short supply, but runs specifically for 1-2 mats are far easier than runs where you need everything.

Edit: For example, if something needs 10 steel sheets, that's 6 scrap metal each, so up to 60. Several hundred scrap can disappear in a hurry if you go on a late-game upgrade spree.

  2. radio takes no power but lights do.
even for story mission areas you can if you need to grab the orbs and warp back to the garage but you have to drive back again to finish the quest anew.
also there is a big radio in the garage the one with the vertical lighted bars

  3. I'm so glad it didnt took too much time for aavak to discover how usefull flares are against anomallies. The game gives you a lot of flares if you look in the right places for it, otherwise you can burn through all your stack pretty quickly.
If you ever see that a junction is perpetually stable, dont worry about time, as it says, it is PERPETUALLY stable, the storm will only close in when you summon it by openning a gateway. Also taking anchors doesnt make the entire region less stable, it just "angers" a small radious arround it. the route planner is your friend and will give you an estimation about pretty much everything you can expect to find on each junction, including how much time you have until a naturall instability storm and how much anchor energy there is.

  4. Btw there are two levels of the storm (that I've seen thus far.) The first is the yellow ring, it's the same low level radiation that causes constant minor health damage that you already encounter in the zones (yellow areas, that moving yellow mini storm, and held stable anchors for instance). Meaning you don't have to immediately try to leave, you can drive into it to take some risk and usually be fine.
The second level is the red ring, it's high level radiation that will rapidly degrade your cars radiation shield and then the individual car parts (not mention your own health). If you get caught in that ring it tells you to get out of it immediately or risk compromising the rad shield. You want to leave before the red ring surrounds you.
Also the storm only occurs in two ways that I know of: either by linking to a gateway or naturally at some point (regardless if you collected anchors or not) in zones that don't have perpetual stability.
If you didn't know the rad shield indicator (the little bar with a shield) is beside the damage indicator panel. Its max rad resistance is determined by the total combined max hp your current parts can have (represented by thin box around the colored bars) . The current rad resistance is determined by how damaged the car is (represented by small vertically stacked different colored bars). The more damaged the parts, the less rad resistance it has. While in the car you are shielded from radiation if it's in good condition.
Sorry if you found all this out already. Really like the series and the long vids.

  5. I have no idea if the radio drains a significant amount of battery, but take it from someone who has accidentally killed their battery multiple times in real life – if it's anything like a real car, headlights on while engine is off will drain your battery faster than anything else.

  6. Aavak. The thing you'd need to salvage intact parts off of cars to put on your own car is the Liberator, and I would highly recommend getting it for when you find parts you yourself can't make yet.

  7. It is possible to pull panels, doors, and wheels off of cars you find around, but you need a particular tool to do so. I think you looked at the tool in the fabrication station once but I don't think you unlocked it.
