Gord Review

Gord reviewed by Jon Bolding on PC. Also available on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

“Any way you look at it, whether it’s an RPG, a real-time strategy game, or a colony sim, Gord is  as miserable as its downtrodden villagers. Other games are bad because they aim too high, attempt too much, and fall down on their own merits. They are at the very least hoisted on their own petard, doing us the favor of digging their own grave or being entertaining in their failures. Gord does not; it simply falls flat and rots where it lies, surrounded by monotonous micromanagement, a poor interface, and by-the-numbers combat. I am content to leave it there, but you may bury it if you like.”

  1. After Getting to and beating scenario 5. I have lost all interest in the game. There was almost no Quality of Life Features, The RTS method is brain dead and unfortunately boring aside of watching units wack each other or cast a faith spell. We have enemies respawning anyways making clearing almost absolutely useless. There is no feeling of progression ever as you advanced through the game. Gord has alot on its plate to try to fix this game unfortunately.

  2. Even with the flaws, the atmosphere and the artwork look great and the story seems dark and promising, like a village surviving in Berseks world. Also the developers were part of the Witcher games team so I'm sold (maybe when its on sale depending on the price).

  3. Ah yes, IGN dropping an honest review on something that isn't a AAA game. Maybe you could try this approach on those bug-ridden, micro transaction-riddled games they like to call AAA?
