Google ain't just about chipset like an iphone. It is an AI smartphone with better cameras and software. Not everything is about the chip and i only care about the display, camera, updates, oi and battery.
The biggest bummer for me is it's not officially launched in my country. If you import it, you will be stuck with 4G

Seems like a very small incremental upgrade like most phones. Still loving my pixel 8 though, gonna wait for pixel 10 or later if they are worthy upgrades

My Pixel 7 has had issues with battery life and the fingerprint sensor since I got it almost two years ago. I normally hold on to a phone for at three years but I got tired of dealing with both of those problems. Ordered the Pixel 9 today and Google gave me $360 for trade-in. For $500 and change, plus the seven years OS updates, I thought it was worth a try.

Do not get a picel, until they fix the weak cell issues.
The phone drops too many calls, and has too many problems with texting…. Until, they fix the antenna/modem prob, stear clear.

I've seen a lot of videos comparing the s24 ultra ultrasonic fingerprint scanner to the pixels ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and the one thing that keeps being said is that the screen doesn't need to be on for the s24 to unlock using the fingerprint scanner and the pixel 9 at least needs the always on display. However, with the new quarter beta drop that came after the August 5th security patch, the screen does not need to be on for the pixel 9 XL to use the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner
This thing costs 900EUR in Europe… For reference: S24 is 600EUR

The only thing that is impressive in this phone is manual brightness and auto brightness levels.
The storage read/write speeds are damn. The processor is barely upper mid range yet it costs as much as iPhones (in fact more). Yet, people make fun of the 60Hz screen and USB 2.0 speeds in the iPhone 15 as if that’s what really matters. Lol

I can't get it out of my head that this standard Pixel 9 it's just a Pixel 8 Pro in a new chassis and a fairly compact size, but mostly without the 5X zoom sensor and without the Pro Camera 📸 features 🤔
And as much as I can't justify the iPhone 15 with its 60 hertz screen in 2024, I can't justify this Pixel 9 at its price with its processor at the level of processors dating back 3 years (8 Gen 1 / 8+ Gen 1 / A14) .
And for me, iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max and S23 / S23 Plus are currently much better deals than both smartphones I mentioned above, especially the S23 Plus whose size (unlike the standard S23 and iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max) is much closer to that of the standard Pixel 9.
Don't forget, it's possible to download Gemini Advance/Live on others smartphones, and download apps to emulate Pixels features, however, you can't download a more powerful processor on the Pixels 9s, and contrary to what you're told, power matters, especially in the long run.
