GOLDEN AGE OF RAILWAY PROJECTS IN THE PHILIPPINES

The duterte administration has promised and delivered some of the biggest railway infrastructure projects with the last five years now let’s take a look at the next biggest railway projects that will be built this year 2022.

PNR BICOL: FROM DREAM TO REALITY

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that the long-awaited railway projects will hopefully start this year..

The PNR Bicol will have a total length of 560 kilometers and 35 stations. It will run from Manila through Laguna, Quezon, Camarines Sur, and then to Albay. It will have an extension line in Sorsogon and a branch line in Batangas.The phase 1 of this project will start this year from Laguna to albay with 25 stations..

With a design speed of 120-160 kilometers per hour for passenger trains and 80-100 kilometers per hour for freight trains, PNR Bicol is expected to reduce travel time between Manila and Legazpi City in Albay from the present 14-18 hours to just 6 hours using regular commuter trains, and 4 hours and 30 minutes using the line’s express trains.

MINDANAO RAILWAY PROJECT

Phase 1 of the Mindanao Railway Tagum-Davao-Digos segment is undertaken by the Department of Transportation but will be funded under a China loan agreement.

A proposed budget of Php 82-Billion, the Phase 1 of this Mindanao Railway Project is stretched covering Tagum, Carmen, Panabo, Mudiang, Magtood, Toril, Sta. Cruz, and Digos City.

PNR CALAMBA PROJECT

This railway line is the phase 3 of the north south commuter railway and you railway line will be constructed on the existing pnr line from solis tondo to calamba laguna.

This project is also scheduled to start this year.

SUBIC CLARK RAILWAY PROJECT

The subic clark railway project, the first cargo freight railway in the philippines,which tapped China Harbor as its contractor, aims to create a 70-kilometer-long logistics corridor connecting Subic Bay in Zambales and Clark freeport zone in Pampanga.This project will establish an industrial hub in Central Luzon that will invite investments.

The cargo railway will link the two of the biggest economic zones in Luzon which are Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga and the Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Subic. The linking of the two Freeport zones will help to decongest and lessen traffic in Manila.

MRT 4 PROJECT
The first ever monorail railway project in the philippines (mrt 4 ) is scheduled to start construction this year 2022.

This railway line will link new manila and quezon city and will pass through san juan edsa ortigas center pasig cainta and will end up in taytay rizal.

LRT LINE 2 WEST EXTENSION PROJECT

This railway line will add three more stations of the existing lrt line 2 it will connect from recto station to divisoria and will end up in pier 4 in manila.

PASAY MONORAIL PROJECT
A public-private partnership project that will built a new monorail line from mrt3 edsa taft station today mall of asia complex..
