Gold Mafia – Episode 1 – The Laundry Service I Al Jazeera Investigations

Undercover reporters pose as gangsters with up to a billion dollars of black money that need to be cleaned. They gain remarkable access to members of Africa’s Gold Mafia and film closed door meetings with crime bosses.
A senior African ambassador offers to launder $1.2 million using the cover of his diplomatic bag.
Criminals offer lucrative deals to clean over $100 million through government gold export schemes. At the centre of it their operations is southern Africa’s biggest laundromat, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.
Gold Mafia, a four-part series by Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit looks at how society’s obsession with gold underwrites a global shadow economy. The undercover team infiltrates the rival gangs that turn dirty cash into gold, which is then sold around the world.
Through thousands of confidential documents and exclusive interviews with whistleblowers from within the criminal organisations, investigators obtain the blueprints of billion-dollar money laundering operations that service the political elite. And the investigation leads to the highest offices of southern Africa.

  2. How I see it, America help put them in that position to have to smuggle their gold in order to sustain their economy. I hope Al Jazeera does one on the American Laundry as well

  3. From min 46:24, He boasted about his accomplishments and reminded them that he is a minister of the Gospel. Being a Christian, It pains me to see a hypocrite like Uebert Angel who does not stand for what they preach. He did not want to talk about why the money is illegal and went on, with a smile on his face, body language to keep his mouth shut, and suggesting to illegally transport the money to his country after being told that the money can't be declared in the country of origin. This is proof that there are many other ministers of the Gospel in Africa doing the same mafia.

  7. This is just a propaganda documentary to make it look like Government of Zim does not mean well and that will be done to Governments in Africa that are not complying with the West, The West wants that to pass through L…. Mineral market to have their cut and not letting Zim to sell direct to their preferred clients, there was nothing wrong with Zim dealing with its own direct client. Wake up zim pipo, The West wants you to rise against your Government in order to put their puppet so that they start looting your mineral resources again. Say no to such propaganda. Indirectly telling you to start fighting your Government. let zim deal directly with its preferred clients.Remember elections are just around the corner.

  8. We all know that Western media has a plan to make Africa look like this always. This is high global politics. Of course I don't make sense to anybody foolish. I pray that in the same way you have exposed these people, you will expose the beauty and potential in Africa.

  9. So, they’re following Zim laws to assist the gov in overcoming illegal sanctions?

And it’s bad because the western banking system and illegal sanctions are being circumvented?

  11. Zimbabwe can not complain much as its gold smuggling, they are only gaining because they have a sanction which means zero pennies for the gold but through the individual smuggling, they are still selling the gold. However Kenya is the one losing money and those countries where the money is smuggled from. And also Dubai is benefitting the most from this laundering.

  13. White people have been exploiting Africa and calling African poor and undeveloped to fool everyone else while they’re living lavish lives from African resources. The African leaders are just 41:54 hungry and become accomplices to this crazy Mafia network, Shame to all that benefits from all this while Zimbabweans are in diaspora working extremely hard to support their families back home. God Will punish all of them πŸ˜’πŸ’” that Indian man is pure evil 😒

The prophet is really playing a dangerous game as God sees his heart and will deal with him accordingly
