Big words, I know. Unlike the very early critiques I absolutely adored this movie and have so much to say about it that it is definitely gonna be one of the longest single-target videos I make for a while. This film not only balances campy Kaiju action with solid jokes, but it somehow finds that so bad its good energy that so many movies lack. Sometimes it feels like Dragon Ball Z, sometimes it feels like God of War with monkeys. But it always feels like a kaiju flick and I’ve got the top 5 reasons on WHY its so great.
Whether it was intentional or not, this feels like a perfect sendup of classic showa era godzilla and I know its gonna get just ALL of the hate for being released so soon after Godzilla Minus One, but if you are a fan of Gojira the Hero and not the terrifying monster of destruction, then you’ll probably end up loving this movie too! From the action, choreography, and spectacle of it all, to the human comedy and monster characterization, to the beautiful special effects and cgi work, and even the intentionally convenient script and pace, all of the great points and flaws work together to replicate the first truly SHOWA vibe for the first time since Pacific Rim. So lets bow in and breakdown the latest entry in Legendary Entertainment’s Monsterverse, the only cinematic universe that hasn’t damaged their franchise.

where the views at ( love your stuff this is gold )
So freakin' ridiculous and not nearly enough people laughing in that theatre! It's structured but not deep. Baby Kong is the best weapon ever. The whole thing managed to be the best animated film of 2024. GODKONG FOREVER.
I enjoyed the creature combat BUT man it should have been much longer. They gotta give us like an hour long climax of monster fighting.
Wish I could watch the whole vid but I don’t wanna get spoiled
I agree that they should bring back Bear McCreary. He was so good in "king of the monsters" and I would love to hear his amazing music again.
(P.S. I think they should find a way to add gamera into the monsterverse)
Shimo definitely gave me puppy vibes, just confusing characterization imo. I like the choice of Skar King being this lanky, smart and selfish loser in direct contrast to the heroic, noble Kong.
Imma need that alien retrospective STAT
Couldn't agree more, godzilla has been silly and badass for years, so this film really was what the whole franchise needed.
I won't lie I absolutely LOVE the direction the Monsterverse is going. Going full Showa allows them to bring in characters like Skar King, whom is one of my favorite mv villains now. Give me a Monsterverse Gigan who's silly as hell. He struts, poses, and mocks humans with laughter….and then proceeds to tear through everything and make Godzilla bleed like it's nothing before getting his cybernetic eye punched in and exploding in true showa fashion.
