  1. Think Sol is right GoWR will win every category: sound design, narrative, best character, visuals, best score…but elden ring will win best gameplay and game of the year.

  2. Calling Ragnarok dlc just paints you into a corner with any future game discussion.
Ragnarok is a longer game than the entire original gears of war trilogy. The first two released 2 years apart. The biggest change in gameplay in the trilogy was adding a few weapons and weapon balance changes between games, things that could have been done in patch updates.
Forza, mlb, NFL, NBA .. is just a series of DLCs now?

  3. You guys are ALL tripping on GOW impressions, except COG. Wow completely ridiculous to be honest…how can you say Elden Ring looked better? That’s complete BS bro… hilarious stuff 🤣🤷🏻‍♂️👎

  4. I'm still on elden ring as goaty. Everything I've seen and heard about Ragnarok sounds like it's pretty disappointing. A lot of complaints of combat and being way longer than it needed to be.

  5. A good example of DLC that was longer and better than the original game: Blood and Wine from The Witcher 3. The DLC is a bit longer than the main game, and the DLC itself was even nominated for GOTY one year on the Game Awards.

  6. Hey Cog and King, you can play Money Island on the cloud, I just played it on my One earlier today. Just can't install it…. I've been playing X/S versions in Game Pass since the beginning with no problems since the beginning of the generation…..

  7. You guys are misinformed on the Mick situation. The man was only paid for half of the minutes he made. Go check Hoeg's video if you want all the facts

Also King you spoiled a major GoW plotline for me. You're a professional, you should have been more careful.

You guys are are my favorite podcast, and I wish you guys the best.

  8. God of war will likely win GOTY because game jurnos are highly biased to cinematic narrative experiences…they essentially love it when video games emulate movies…imo Elden ring is the clear GOTY

  9. If GOWR is DLC then the same must be said for every Forza, Halo, and gears ever made. The game was good and the similarities are to be expected as it’s a continuation of the previous title. We never expected drastic changes in terms of gameplay. I’m an Xbox guy but calling ragnarok DLC is out of touch.

  10. What Elden Ring has is:

    – Freedom of exploration and path
    – Different Build options and you WANT to replay it
    – Elden Ring has coop, and it works well enough for me to put in 100 hours of coop with 2 other friends.
    – Elden Ring has mystery and very interesting secrets, where you'll find something new even after 200 hours of play

  11. I can’t with y’all anymore. I liked the banter and slander but now it’s creeping into everything. One of the highest rated games of all time is an average, 40 fps, ugly old Gen being held back cringe dialogue DLC? Ehhhh

  12. Why does that Marty brat need to post anything at all? What kind of legal protection from 2018 can account for a damaging reddit post about a private job interaction. He was taking heat for a bad OST and used the clout of his company to dump the blame on an independent contractor. This is going to be happening more and more. the unspoken resentment of the business side of gaming for the artists who make their work special is coming to the surface. and, it's that same resentment that coming out in story coverage like Anchor's ("It's Doom. How hard is it?). And, don't project your "he shoulda taken the money" ethos as some sorta gotcha, just bc you don't have that level of professional integrity.

  13. I think Elden ring deserves the game of the year, GOWR comes very close especially with the side content and post game content. Tho elden ring and gow suffer a bit of the same thing the "open" format, repetition or repetitive gameplay loops. The only thing that's make things feel less repetitive is variety of content and strength of core mechanics. GOWR gives you variety in combos of the combat system (especially with the new tools you get), Elden Ring gives you a lot of variety of weapons and different archetype builds (Rpg mechanics). The worlds both games are large, elden ring is a very large singular map, and GOWR's the new realms are fairly huge from the last game, and some of the previous realms get expanded upon (a bit). Both have a big variety of enemies and boss battles, but they both do repeat at some point. Both have a similar structures to their previous games, Dark souls but open world, and GOW 2018, but bigger and more variety. Both have solid art direction (not talking graphics). With that being said i do think Elden ring will edge out, especially because mobility is less restrictive/context sensitive regardless of the obtuse menus, but both games are solid epic fun.
