Message Notes

Hope is Alive!
He is in control so good things are always possible.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

God is in control of all things.

Psalm 135:6 The Lord does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths. 7 He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.

God has the right to be in control because He made us.

Revelation 4:11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

God has the power to be in control because he is all powerful.

Jeremiah 32:17 Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.

God is in control because he is all wise and all knowing.

Romans 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!

It is good that God is in control because he is good and all loving.

Psalm 86:15 But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.

1 Chronicles 16:31 “Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, ‘The Lord reigns!’”

God controls all things but he does not cause all things.

Although he does not cause all things, God is in control because nothing happens that he does not permit.

Whether God causes it or permits it he has a good plan for it.

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Good things are always possible because God is in control.

The good thing could be the positive, desired outcome.

The good thing could be growth in faith and character.

Romans 5:3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

The good thing could be people coming to faith in Jesus.

The good thing could be God is glorified.

Philippians 1:20 (NLT) For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die.

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
