Kali, question, for you, do you record your own background music? for a minute I thought you were just playing clint Mansel's leaving earth from mass effect 3, but after a bit, it became apparent that this was a cover melody. just curious if you are the talent on the piano or it's coming from elsewhere.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts at the beginning. The "spirituality" aspects of this show often fly "under the radar"…but they are there. Book is an interesting character. There is so much about his character that always raises more questions than providing answers. The treatment of spirituality is interesting given that I believe Josh Wheaton is an atheist…or at least an agnostic. As I am neither…I wish you a Blessed weekend. Thank you Kali.

You commented on the music, in case nobody's mentioned it yet, Joss Whedon actually wrote the theme song before he penned a single episode.
Mal clearly says 'what are you doing here, and what's with the suit?' when Simon goes over to the salvage ship because jayne told him to, 'still got to get suited up' he said.
Kaylee tells Simon that he had the suit on wrong.
Meaning, had Simon actually needed the spacesuit, he'd be dead and it would be jaynes fault. You are the first reactor that has noticed that fact, Thank you, loving your reactions.

Oh firefly.. From back when they knew how to make series. Nowadays series are only good if PUMPED full of money, over the mountain budgets, costume designers and at least 50 ppl going completely bankrupt and going homeless and or heroin addicts. There were SO many B-series shows that are better (acting, and "gameplay") compared to AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-titles nowadays.
"They're looking under the placemats…" Yep, there could be clues there! Like if someone doodled on them, "Simon is a douche", that would be a dead giveaway! 🤣

This episode she comes to River to see if she's hungry and later comforts her when she's terrified.
Last episode she was fixing Kaylee's hair in her shuttle (start) and then pulled her out of harms way when the fighting started in the hold (end).
That line of Mal's that you quoteted,"We're thieves , but we're not thieves ", goes all the way into the Serenity movie after the series ended. His "faith" is all used up on his crew. That's why when one of the crew is less than he trusts them to be, he has zero time for their failures. You're doing such an outstanding job in your reaction videos, you're a very educated intelligent person. This is why I've recommend "Westworld" series to you. Not all reactions are up for the challenge of being able to fully comprehend the storyline , I know you will… and you'll love it 🏆 💘 🎥 📹 Now , let's get beck aboard the Serenity, we've crime to be done. One last thing, Mal's hatred for the Alliance is exactly why he took Simon and River Tam onto his crew…. If River is that important to the Alliance, Mal gets a kick out of keeping her from the Alliance …. Its a sekf serving interest that just happens to benifit the Tam siblings.

It's great to hear how much you appreciate Mal's character. Next episode is probably my favorite because it showcases Mal's character so well and has one of my favorite lines that I still use today. "Mighty fine shindig!" Lol

I started watching when they originally aired, and I lost interest within the first couple of episodes. Going back and watching in the intended order made all the difference. Legitimate horror/suspense is so much better than cheap jump scares.

Kali, awesome reaction. You always make them better somehow. I know it's just your personality but … thank you for that !!! Now, I know it looks weird to a lot of people, and did to you but, the reason WHY the Alliance would look in seemingly weird places, turn over placemats, lift up cups and glasses, etc. is really simple to explain. They weren't just looking for the obvious … PEOPLE … they were also looking for CLUE, like scribblings, drawings, notes, etc. that would indicate that the people they were looking for (Simon and River) were there (or had been).
In other words, even if they didn't find Simon and/or River, finding things like that would tell them to keep looking until they DID find them (or something that would lead to them). If neither of those things produced results, then they would/could stop searching sooner, rather than later. So, what you are seeing is PROOF that the crew did a excellent job of "scrubbing" the ship, leaving no trace of either of them.
Summer Glau, who plays River, was also a highly trained dancer. Joss Whedon has said that he frequently likes to showcase her feet, in various scenes
I've read the shooting script for this episode, apparently the only lines Wash had in the script for the interrogation scene, was the line about liking Zoe's legs, which means the rest of Wash's dialogue was improvised. I've also read that the actor who plays Wash was given the direction to make his interrogator laugh.
That is so fantastic (and like a Browncoat) that you went back to re-watch the previous episodes. Plus, you were able to catch so many of the little things that have shaped those on this journey. I think you will really enjoy this series and the movie. This episode was a bit scary but it set ups how horrible the reavers are. Cool reaction.

Every friend group has someone like Jayne, he's a bit of an ass, but not a total ass so you put up with him because he's good to have around if things go sideways.

Firefly's 2-hour pilot episode was not unique in the early 2000s but that format definitely dropped off. In the 1960s and through much of the 1970s they would typically have a 2-hour TV movie and depending on its success would determine if they went forward with a TV series. In the 1950s and 1960s often they would have an episode as a pilot in a popular TV series. The Andy Griffith Show had its pilot episode in The Danny Thomas Show. There was a pilot episode in the Classic Star Trek TV series S02E26 Assignment Earth.

I think the Alliance wants mostly control more than order.
Better way to look at reavers are that they are human in the sense of the species, but hey are not "men/man" anymore as they have lost some of what makes us more than the other primates.

River is kind of like a puzzle with only the edge pieces in place. As the show progresses and then continues into the movie, the interior pieces will be filled in gradually. My personal opinion is that Summer Glau did a phenomenal job with this character.
