If Jay wants to swing around a greatsword in 40k he should check out the Storm Wardens. They are one of the successor chapters, so not one of the big legions, but they have big power greatswords and if I recall corectly their favourite strategy is heavy assault which is basically combining heavy weapons fire with assault marines charging in with sword 'n' boards and greatswords. They're basically Scotsmen in space.
Forst appeared in the Deathwatch RPG by Fantasy Flight but have since been made an officially recognised chapter by GW. Hope that's not a dealbreaker for him, but frankly I think they are so fucking cool and I think he would like them.
