  1. My family imagrated to America from Germany but my great great grandfather stayed and was a SS police officer in Warsaw. He was a pow and charged with crimes against humanity and hung. He did horrible things but they were brain washed. A very sad time in history.

  2. shock troops back then would be similar to modern day commando's. hard hitting front line special forces, like the marines are the shock of the sea rangers the shock of the land Pzr Grenadiers the same thing. kriegmarines same shock of the sea they are usually the badest mother f ers in warfare and they have been around way longer then ww1 they are not a recent thing. back in the day yeah they were seen as a throw away type of shock unit during battles but now a days they are the most well trained man that could take on an army, they are so well trained they try not to waste them yep even in ww2

  3. Speaking of how hard the British were prepared to fight if they were invaded, Churchill had ordered that as a matter of course, should the Panzers approach to within 50 miles of London the entire chemical arsenal of the British empire was to be dropped on the advancing formations. Such a concentration of chemical weapons would have rendered the ground unusable even to this day. Britain was going to stand or the Germans would have been masters of rubble and chemical wastelands.

That story about Dresden reminds me of a similar story my grandma told me. She grew up in the hills above Scarborough, where she was awoken by the explosions one night. She said it was like the sky was on fire…… Can't even begin to image, nor do i particularly want to.

  4. My Great Grandfather fought on the Eastern Front. Fortunately for my family to come, he survived up until the complete collapse of the German war effort, and was captured by Americans.

He came to the UK, and lived out the rest of his life until 1996. My Father said of him that: he never spoke of the war.

He would've been 16-17 when he started to fight. We recognise that people of that age shouldn't drink, drive or vote, yet we're prepared to hold them responsible for their actions as a soldier?

It feels immoral to me, especially if they're guilty by association and not outright acts of inhumanity.

  5. This video is proof while the Canadians are probably the nicest people in the world but don't F with them.

Their national sport is centered around extreme violence despite being the nicest people on the planet.

  6. The logistics and planning for D-Day was bat sh*t crazy. The invasion was one of the most complicated military things in the history of warfare.

EDIT: Tommy is right. The real life footage in the video is really damn good.
