  1. George Carlin does expose the essence of a comedian, it's an individual's thought about a group. He does it which a lot of elegant and class. It'll be why comedians that identify with a certain group speaking on behalf of another it's always a bit sour and unfunny, because they are more of a megaphone for the many where it should be for the singular.
So if you are starting out as a comedian, express the thoughts and feelings through your own voice and messed up views, I bet you it'll hit harder and more people will listen!

  2. about 3200 yrs ago (maybe 2600) … there was this BOOK … called the BIBLE
a (religious) philosophical text providing guidance for living a virtuous (honest) life …
contains references to what YOU are and what you are NOT …
what you SHOULD be and should NOT be!
on page 8 you can find the following …
"never again shall i flood the earth … for man's heart is evil from it's youth …"

  3. 2,000+ years from now, archaeologists piecing together our miserable civilization will be trying to identify key texts by a Great Philosopher named named George Carlin, who seemed to understand things. ("Comedian" references will be interpreted as ironical by his contemporaries, the way William Shakespeare was an "actor.")

  5. Yeah. An icon. But he got bitter as he got older. Some do. And I don't care who it is, wishing death on people is just fucked up. Lacks humanity. Not edgy at all. And he did the same exact material here on Charlie Rose. He's not winging it. That's what performers do.
