  1. Laurie Laybourn with his mum & dad should know that natural gas is still the least expensive fuel, you can’t beat a high efficiency gas boiler for warmth and flexibility.
Stopping blaming Putin/Ukraine for the price increase, previously we didn’t use much gas from Russia, we had our own and Norwegian supplies.

  2. More Uninformed commentators, heat pumps need much bigger radiators & large enough pipe work, micro-bore pipe is too small and a separate room for a hot water cylinder. The property needs to be super retro insulated, so really only suited to new build properties with underfloor heating pipes.

  3. Electric vehicles are only for the wealthy. The plebs can walk or use the bus. Heat pumps are only for the wealthy. the plebs can shower in cold water and sit with a blanket over.

  4. Except its not just a gas boiler it's the entire central heating system. Thousands of pounds per household. The current gas crisis can easily be avoided in future by simply not interfering in other people's business.

  5. don't matter what you have to heat your house you'll be bent over a barrel and right royally shafted. Old baldy failed to mention in his propaganda speech not only did price of gas go up, but so did Electricity like those tree hugging greenies found out when they wanted to charge their inefficient electric cars

  6. Is our gov going to pay all the costs? Most family still using gas, who’s going to the replacement work? And the fees? And someone need to remove the radiators then throw them away.

  7. what a weird coincidence they're all after the same sort of things. how does this help save the world when the gas will be around no matter what? what is the sensible alternative? death.

  8. Lol what a hot take by the bald chap.
Get rid of gas boilers cuz MuH RuSSia.

If that's his point of view then surely he would agree we need to be building more nuclear/coal plants and coal mines using modern carbon scrubbing technology in the UK so were not beholden to murderous tyrants when it comes to manipulation of the energy market as a whole.

  9. I banned my own gas boiler 3 months ago. Cut off the gas supply, ripped out the boiler, sold it to my local scrap yard and bought a log burner and chainsaw.

  10. It'll be on new gas boilers, like with ICE automobiles.

    Anyway, this is a bad idea because the Russian submarines can easily take out the entire offshore electric grid;
If heating was 100% electric & totally dependent on 'Net Zero' offshore wind, then the Russian Govt could blackmail the UK.
Russians have threatened to do so with a "nuclear tsunami", but actually all they need is a pair of βœ‚ to cut the power cables, so to speak (like with comms cables).
As for offshore ecological affects, look this up: "researchers-look-into-impact-electric-cables-from-offshore-turbines-could-have-on-sharks-lobsters".

So, then there is onshore wind, which would be safe from the βœ‚of Russian submarines, but not of saboteur agents, unless you have a standing army guarding them 24/7.
Also, onshore wind uses up scarce land, interferes with radar used for plane navigation, chops up Britain's birds, causes various illnesses for people & animals living nearby from the pressure changes of the blades.

Also, a wind farm can interfere with the local electric field, diverting electric discharges to the ground. Some of the static ends up in the electronics of the turbine and this adds to the degradation of the system over time, ultimately resulting in dangerous malfunctions like when a turbine doesn't automatically cut it's off if the wind is too fast. This can lead to gyration vibrations that will destabilize the turbine blades and potentially make the entire wind turbine EXPLODE.
Lookup: "Investigation into the Effects of Static Electricity on Wind Turbine Systems".

For all UK wind turbines, resin is used to make the blades.
The resin has toxic BPA embedded in it, which can leak out into the environment,
especially if old turbines are scrapped and buried in some dump.

If nuclear was chosen as a primary energy source, then that would certainly be a military target for the Russian Military, as it is in Ukraine.
Also, there is the matter of radioactive waste and the invisible rise of radon gas that builds up at disposal sites, that is ignored because it looks like it's natural.
UK has a poor history of dealing with nuclear waste, resulting in many deaths from barrels they dumped in the Atlantic, & from contaminant discharges into the sea & air.

So, then there is solar, with a limited effective lifespan because the moist and windy UK climate does it's best to corrode or smash up solar panels.
    The carbon footprint is very heavy on Made-In-China solar panels, and China generally cares not for environmental regulations within it's own borders;
Only the borders of it's competitors and enemies matter for the CCP that would rather divert blame to outsiders.

Neodymium magnets for turbines, cadmium, lead & more for solar panels have become a major environmental problem in China, destroying land once used for farms.
Hundreds of toxic chemicals are used to manufacture these 'net zero' products that are shipped around the world.

The toxic legacy of the manufacture & degradation of solar and wind components will last in China and in the countries that import their net zero tech for generations to come.

  11. Gas is great. Totally natural resource which is cheap and easily produced. Until we get anything better we should stick with gas and use our own so we are self sufficient.

  12. Dear GB News – why do you keep having Laurie Laybourn on your programmes as an 'expert'?
    He's not.
He should know that most of Britain's gas comes from Norway, NOT the 'murderous Putin dictatorship'….
Britain buys gas on the international market because it's had clueless idiots as MPs for the past thirty years or so.
We have vast reserves which the Government won't touch.
    similarly oil.
Change the government and don't listen to experts…..
