  1. DEFINITELY grow Angelonia!!! We have been growing the same plants for over 6 seasons (suburban Chicagoland) Merely cut it back to 'stumps' when bringing indoors in the Fall, lightly water during the winter under lights (dividing if too large) and it's already blooming long before going back outdoors in May. Actually the first blue & white bloom spikes opened mid-Dec and the plants will have dozens of spikes by Spring. Outstanding, longest blooming plants, all summer long!

  2. Happy new year Erin! Looking forward to seeing what you get up to in 2023. The plastic pots situation is real. Who loves to do some garden centre hopping and come home with a car full of beauties? 🙋🏻‍♀️ Later this year I will be moving and starting a garden from scratch . In an effort to cut down on the plastic I’ve challenged myself to do this as much as possible by growing from seed, taking divisions from plants in my current garden or friends and family’s gardens, starting shrubs from cuttings and buying bare root. I am all about the instant garden so this will require a new level of patience for me. Wish me self control! 😅

  3. Sorry I missed the live, but I'm enjoying the replay. I wanted to ask is there anything you would to do protect plants during an ice storm? I'm in North West Iowa and we are under an ice storm warning today. Could get a half inch of ice.

  4. It's not a lacecap, but an outstanding hydrangea to maybe replace your Incrediball's would be Invincibelle Limetta. I have over 50 hydrangeas, but my Limettas bloom the longest (rebloomers), are the toughest, grow fast, do equally well in sun or shade, don't flop, and are just an amazing hydrangea! The blooms dry a bright green and I use them for decorating. I'm in 7a with 4.7pH soil, so I don't know if they will be the same for you, but maybe they are something you would want to try out. Other arborescens that I grow are Haas Halo, Annabelle, and Wee White. There is no comparison. Limetta is a super star!

  5. My most favorite alone time is hand watering my garden with a glass of wine. Very much missing that right now as I'm listening to my heater coming on every 5 minutes.

  6. Sooooo relatable! I was just thinking at the end, who would sit for an hour and half and listen to garden chat? ME!, as you said not a lot of people want to do this in my family. You say so many things, that I may not want to speak out loud, like Feb and March are fun with seed growing, and then it gets no fun! I love all my new seed adventures from last year, but boy did I work hard in April, May. Appreciate you truthful, humours candor so much! Great channel…side note, I have the original floppy Annabelles and saw somewhere keeping them upright by planting a boxwood hedge in front of them, looked very cool

  7. What a treat for the new year. I hope Erin does a lot of her chats in the future. Coincidentally I had just made Kalebs gingerbread and was delighted to enjoy seeing him in a casual chat I need to thank Erin for introducing me to Jim Putnam at his Hortube channels. Appreciate his general knowledge plus he’s in my zone 7. As to the subject of things we finally gave up on: after years of fighting deer and blossoms turned brown by midsummer, I abandoned hydrangeas and bring home boxes of beautiful pink and white blossoms from my cousins bushes in Marshfield, Wisconsin that dried overnight

  8. Yeah, our local garden center said it wasn’t “worth their while” to carry something I asked about. Loved seeing you and Kaleb interact! Happy new year. 🎉

  10. Awesome gardening discussion! I actually have an interior design question for you. May I ask where you got the pillow with an orangish flower on it? I have seen it before and love it! Happy 2023! Looking forward to seeing what you create for us to learn from!

  11. I love following you and this live is fun. I hear what you are saying about watering and I am not getting younger, ha! But here in TN I can not imagine watering!! Although, I wish I could.
