That would scare me to just grab that bug 😫 lol maybe with gloves on 😊 I'm new with gardening , I'm sure I'll get over It, but baby steps ✌🏼
I feel fortunate to not have a ton of insect pressure for some reason. If you can get away with using nothing, that's the way to go. I'm sure not everybody HAS to use dust. It's probably much different down south though.
What about Neem oil? Can you give us a recipe?
I hate those guys! i'm always infested with them or something very similar. They seem to like the squash and cukes best.

Do you have a problem with your squash & zucchini getting powdery mildew when you are spraying water on the plants to wash off the insect dust? My squash & zucchini seem to get powdery mildew every time the leaves get wet from watering.

How do you keep Japanese Beatles out of your garden? Last year I had traps and it worked well, but I added corn and now can’t keep them away
?Do you need to water the entire length of a squash vine? I don' see any vines on your squash.I find I have to pick squash bugs daily. They are cleaver though and will migrate to the vine and different locations on leaves to lay their eggs.
Help! I have tried all the tricks with my squash and zucchini. I've increased water to once in the early a.m. and late in p.m. Used worm tea and compost. Used fish emulsion. Hand pollinated. Every time I think I have a good one growing they get soft and/or shrivel with sometimes having rot at the end. The only thing I can think is that I am using city tap water or not the appropriate container? Should I scrap these and just grow more tomatoes? I live in an apartment with a balcony.

Thank you, Gary! This video helped so much. I just started noticing the eggs on my Lakota squash plant and have killed two squash bugs, so far. Just came in tonight from dusting the plant and will be washing it off, in the morning.
There's some yellow beetles that I see more than squash bugs now. They're slightly bigger than ladybugs (and look similar), I've seen the the last couple of years. How do you handle those? I've just had to squish them as I've seen them, but they're all over the place now.

Great video as always Gary! I had squash bugs invade my four pumpkin plants and I got a lot of them but I don't have a lot of time to turn over every pumpkin leaf each day. Gardening is so tough! I think I've decided I'm not a pumpkin farmer haha!
Every time you grab a squash bug with your fingers, it gives me the hee-bee-gee-bees! I think I will need to wear some heavy gloves so I don't feel anything LOL!
