The Mario one is a huge reach. You can make anyone a villain pegging all their actions as self-serving violence in a game, especially if you ignore other parts of their lore, like the fact all Koopas and Goombas are verified minions of Bowser in most games, that they're sent to a kingdom that isn't there's to thwart Mario, the fact the Princess does know him and keeps sending letters urging for him to help her, or that the whole kingdom eats mushrooms and it's not seen as weird or cannibalistic. The Yoshi punching is a bad look, but the rest is just setting a skewed narrative to make him look as bad as possible haha.
The mario one was def so cringey i cant count how many times i rolled my eyes
The Evil Within⦠I love a good horror survival game, itās my favorite type of game. However, this game was on another level. To play as a protagonist who basically spirals into village similar to that of Silent Hill, but have the bosses much scarier. For instance, trying to hide in lockers and dodge āthe Keeperā who you first meet butchering a human body in what looks like to be leather faceās basement on crack that has a large safe for a head and hunts you down as you try to escape. Not to mention also a large woman like creature who resembles Sadaku from Ringu and you donāt know when she will appear and hunts you down for the first half the game. To top it all off, my boyfriend at the time wanted to take turns between chapters playing the game. He would double tap everything and waste ammo and supplies by the time that I got to play I had nothing which just added stress to my fear. Never even finished it due to all that.
Resident Evil Village was also another game that terrified me up to Heisenburg then I found it kind of comical. Not knowing what was around the corner and what would jump at me next. Also to have the large baby like creature chasing after you. Itās a great game, but to help me get through it, I had to make jokes to myself and quoting Mel Brooks āthere wolfā¦there castleā.
It was Layers of Fear for me. A huge part of how terrifying it was to me might have been that I was 12 when I first played it, but MAN that was something. Couldn't sleep properly for days, had to take long breaks before playing again, it was terrifying and I still get the creeps when i revisit it. I see a lot of people badmouthing it on the internet from time to time, but that doesn't change just how much it affected me the first time around.
For anyone who is curious, Iām pretty sure story 53 is about the original NieR game. It got remastered a few years back under the title NieR: Replicant for anyone interested in playing it. Itās not a horror game at all, but it does have a few disturbing moments like the one in the story
Fatal frame D:
Can we talk about Nintendo having nightmare fuel and creepy moments in there games..from legend of Zelda floor master ,re deads, and dead hands plus o.o.t bottom of the well⦠to Metroid prime in the when the Metroid are introduced and the area is completely dark so you need a new visor to see itā¦and the beginning of the gameā¦.Iām sure thereās more Nintendo games that has a creepy or horror element moment but thatās off the top of my head
Mortuary assistant – itās obviously a horror game but itās the very first game Iāve ever had to stop playing. I achieved the original 5 endings with no problem. I put it down for a minute, then went to play it again and everything was fine until some whispering started. Whispering doesnāt mix well with my tinnitus and I had to put it down because it was making me incredibly anxious
DEAD SPACE WAS MENTIONED
The original Baldi's basics! I was not expecting the static noises
I love that Parasite Eve was mentioned. That game was ahead of it's time and needs a reboot
Generation zero is not a horror game but its scary as hell
Witch's House true ending and novel is really disturbing for me, especially the novel
Pokemon Yellow-Lavender Town Tower is already haunting as it is but when you have Pikachu there they get a really scared face when you interact with them, when I played it wouldn't go away no matter where I went, I got so worried I messed up Pikachu forever that I restarted the game and didn't take picachu with me this time
Hatoful Boyfriend-A Dating Simulator with Birds, fun right? Some routes are silly, fun and a bit crazy. Some routes make Doki Doki Literature Club look like a Children's Story.
Fatal Frame ("Project Zero" in my country) fornthe PS2 was that for me. First time I played it at night in total darkness at max volume. Had to stop after about thirty minutes because every door I needed to open gave me heart palpitations. Had to stop at a few very specific moments throughout that got to me (and which I still vividly remember to this day), but I managed to play through the whole thing.
For people, wo don't know: You play a japanese girl in an old abandoned and dilapidated japanese mansion in search for your brother who went missing there. It is full of ghosts, dark terrible secrets and your only weapon is an ancient photo camera, which sometimes is the only way to actually see the ghost that tries to kill you.
It is a fine example of japanese horror, has excellent atmosphere and sound design and I totally recommend it if you have the possibility to still play it. Just try to ignore the design for the main character and the very few human characters. They already looked kinda bad on release but the rest of the game was so good you kinda forget they are terrible.
Damn that Mario bit really went on didnāt it?
No Layers of Fear or Among The Sleep mentions? Sheesh.
The Void. WtF??
#56 sounds like a man hating misandrist
i love the Garden Warfare 2 gameplay btw, i main Vamp Flower lmao
. . … .. . . ….. ….. .. …. … … .. .. ….. . .. …. . ….
Just a suggestion/question, can you put the game title that is running during the video in the summary box. There have been a few games you play that I couldn't identify, which I would like to try/play myself.
It's between Jericho and The Evil Within one and two. There are others but those stick in my head.
Soon as he said "king got jealous and ripped the wings off" i was like "*gasp* Soul Reaver!!" Love that game but yeah scared me as a kid too.š
My eyes deceive. God, it seems simply just eerie at first, until you learn the truth. Itās not terrifying per se, but really disturbing.
While thinking about how I myself would answer the question, Iām surprised no one brought up the old DVD games that would come with movies. In particular: the Beauty and the Beast game. I could go on for hours about that thing, sometimes I play it just to laugh and prove that I can (itās pretty easy when you know what youāre doing), but thinking about it at night still gives me anxiety
Itās the epitome of everything that unnerves me about movie DVD games; the old and unnatural graphics and movements, the creepy echoey narration, the way the screen freezes for a second every time you make a choice⦠even writing this is stressing me out
I could also call to attention the Harry Potter disc games; Jesus CHRIST the Chamber of Secrets ones-
13:21 "HEY, KIDDO…."
I didnāt play it, I watched a video on it, but Iām glad I did.
It was a walking sim, with the story that youāre a girl who goes to your dead dadās abandoned hotel and mysterious things happen, which seemingly has to do with a dead girl who was your dadās mistress.
The girl was 16 and his student.
The game then proceeds to bend over backwards to justify the creepy groomer dad. Honestly, the only thing creepier than a video game monster is a monster that makes video games.
Its not rlly a well known game but cooking companions it starts off chill but jesus christ what the fuck
One of the only games I had to watch a cartoon afterwards to calm myself down
And I wasnāt even personally playing it I was watching a play through šØ
My eyes deceive is scary to me as a woman because a child is assaulted without them knowing and is mislead to believe that there are monsters and that is why she cannot go outside
Bloodborne, the difficulty and depressing atmosphere definetely drives me insane sometimes, not to mention the genius Insight system. It really does feel like you are a fragile mind, about to go nuts due to stress, on the border of insanity, always paranoid there is something that can kill you around every corner and make you drop all your Blood Echoes (XP basically) and I think that really hammers home the cosmic horror of the game
No, all of that is true about Mario lolx he failed to mention that if he looses to Luigi, his bother, in tennis, he stomps on and grinds the toe of his boot because heās a shitty sore loser
My eyes decieve…..
The worst part is that its based on real live.š¢
Anybody eles wish they would do a list of what was listed.
The one the person couldn't remember but was for the PS1 was called Legacy of Kain.
It's not a full on horror game but my god does Lisa the Painful RPG has it's messed-up moments. The post-apocalyptic world, the messed-up decisions, and the fucking JOY MUTANTS (a lot of them can even pera-kill your party members).
F.E.A.R 2, it was no where near as unsettling as the first, but the part where you get to the elementary school gave me nightmares that night
I wanted to play Hellblade so bad but the warning it gives at the beginning about if you have this talk to your doctor before you play, I should have listened. I have Schizophrenia and was like, 'It can't be that bad.' I spent days in my bed with an episode not being able to sleep because everything in my head was too loud and the four music notes playing over and over in my head for hours just did me in. Next time, I'll heed the warning.
Deadly Premonition is one that scared me back in the day. Everything about that game is creepy. Especially at night, the sky would turn red and everything would get all crazy. I absolutely hated going outside during that time because of that, and because of all the creepy enemies roaming around. Some other games that genuinely scared me were Resident Evil 1, Zero, and 4. I played them on the gamecube in the late 2000s and they were all terrifying.
Harvester.
Subnautica triggered my thalassophobia. Normally video games don't trigger it, I might be anxious but not terrorized.
That game terrorized me. The moment I had to dive deeper than a dozen feet I couldn't do it
I am not a gamer per se, bc I never had the equipment or the freedom when I was a kid, but I love watching others go through games. Also, I can be really engaged.
So, Visage was the first ever game, that scared me so much, I had to watch it on low volume, and had to pause the video for breaking the stress.
Seuna's Sacrifice messed my brain so much, I felt physically ill.
Huh, so no one brought up OMORI, Majoraās Mask, or even The Evil Within series? Thatās⦠honestly surprising
OMORI is just⦠it screws with you
Majoraās Mask is a classic look into how Nintendo is perfectly capable of making a ākidsā game absolutely horrifying at times
And The Evil Within series is just a badass series all around, really sticks with you
