Gabby Petito’s ‘Blood Smeared’ Face Reveals Shocking Details of Utah Traffic Stop

The law firm representing Gabby Petito‘s family in a lawsuit against the Moab Police Department in Utah released a photo showing injuries they say were inflicted by her fiancé and killer, Brian Laundrie. Attorneys for the Petitos said this injury was inflicted prior to the couple’s traffic stop with police, and later pointed out to an officer during a traffic stop in August 2021. The lawsuit accuses officers of failing to properly investigate Petito’s apparent injuries. The Law&Crime Network’s Sierra Gillespie has the details.

  1. Ladies use this as a lesson not to minimize what has happened to you. Please do not INFLATE situations to benefit you and victimize yourself but definitely try not ti minimize your experience.

I was once in a relationship with someone who classically said “I never hit you!” He was right… he never “hit” me…. But that doesn’t mean he never harmed me.
Remind yourself that if you saw toddlers doing something to each other and you would feel compelled to separate or reprimand, then it’s probably not ok for another adult to do to you!

  2. The background of the selfie does not match the back of Gabbys van. The blanket in the van is hung and sagging, and in the selfie, the top of the blanket in the photo is perfectly straight like someone drew it. Also, the area above the blanket in the photo has no shelf or wood slat ceiling but just a murky brown image. Also, Gabbys injury magically healed within 7 minutes.

  3. I don’t get how you can sue the cops. They talked to them extensively. Separated them for the night. These were 2 adults. Gabby could have sought more help if needed. It was practically given to her on a platter. But she chose her abuser. Not the cops fault.

  4. As someone who was harassed and stalked by a male neighbor, I can tell you that police dont care about women. I was told to get a restraining order and then was told by the court I couldn't apply for one unless I'd actually been harmed or threatened, both of which are crimes. So they wont help you until after a crime has already been committed and even then, still dont protect women, as in this case.

  5. What a bunch of emotional drivel from many of the commenters.
She started this physical altercation (this time). They were both emotionally unstable and both abusive towards each other. A completely toxic relationship.
The difference ended up being that he was stronger and homicidal. That's when she became the sole victim. Before that it was mutual. Sucks she was murdered, but she wasn't a saint and should have and could have left him. She was an adult. The cops aren't responsible for her death, they don't have a crystal ball and if they were going to arrest anyone, it would have been her, or both of them. That would have probably just put of the inevitable.

  6. Sadly, the police have qualified immunity and so filing this lawsuit is just a formality in regard to the way the handled the traffic stop. However, I feel the parents should be charged as accomplices.

  7. When Brian laughed and said to the cops" I hope she isn't saying anything bad about me". That already revealed that he was worried she would tell the cops about what he's really like. The cops had so many signs that things were pretty bad. He said all these things about their training and why the set of rules were put in place and then just went meh lets see how we get around this. Also Gabby may have been crying but when she calmed down she told the cops everything in a normal manner. Brian on the other hand was stuttering, mumbling and laughing all nervously and cracking jokes which is all not nirmal in that situation.

  8. They deserve all the money but that won't bring their daughter back.
The police officer literally saw the injuries in her arm and face & he said himself two people reported seeing him hitting her and still let him go.
