Future Geelong Summit all about getting the ‘spotlight’ back on the Victorian city

Geelong Advertiser Editor Nadja Fleet says the Future Geelong Summit is all about getting the “spotlight” back on the Victorian city.

Business and industry leaders in Geelong attended the summit on Friday to discuss issues facing the region.

“We want to make sure that Geelong gets the attention that the city needs,” Ms Fleet told Sky News Australia.

“Some of the things that we’ve found out during the campaign leading up to Future Geelong and the workshop that we’ve done is that people want this city to be the most livable city in Australia if not even the world.

“I know that sounds very ambitious but I think we’ve got some – quite a few foundations already here that would help us get there.”

  1. Geelong received UNESCO world heritage. So they went in & built skyscrapers like Melbourne ontop of historical sites 😮 Geelong has lots of surrounding hills & areas where skyscrapers could have been built, everyone would have had a view & the old city would have been retained without congestion 😢 Clearly the developers, architects & town planners of today are nowhere near as good, interesting or other as our ancestors. Its just abuse 😔

  3. Good luck. Geelong was dying when I left almost 10 years ago. After the shut down ford a lot of other places up and left as well. The biggest intersection in the CBD for years has had no shops on any of the corners of it, just empty buildings, same as the Main Street. I’d like to see it get better, it’s where I grew up, but it’s only been getting worse the last 20 years, and probably will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

  5. Geelong is fantastic, but the spotlight needs turning off not on, soon to be an over populated Melbourne like hell-hole with way too much traffic. Geelongs size is what makes it extremely liveable, and gives it the community like feel.

  6. Marlse and his cronies want to turn Geelong into a NWO, agenda 2030 smart city, don't fall for their propaghanda, they have a twisted agenda.

Guys we are officially in the END TIMES now this is why so much lunacy and evil is going on, Jesus said these things would come to pass Matt 24, Mark 13, Luke 21 and Revelation 6. I stand with the Lord Jesus Christ the Lord of all, the one who took our punishment for sin upon himself and gave his life for us on the cross at Calvary because he was the only one who could and you can also if like me you are fed up with and totally against this evil that is going on in our world turn to God call on Jesus Christ to save you right now, why wait any longer. We are being pushed into a *new*world*order and the enemy is parading their evil like never before in our faces, the only way out of it all is by salvation through Jesus Christ and to await his soon second coming to redeem us and destroy all evil. Repent of all sin and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour today.
To receive Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour and be saved from sin–
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ. Please ask him into your heart for if you have read this far into this post without mocking and scoffing at what i’ve said be assured that he is knocking at the door of your heart.

  7. Is this woman serious? She must live in a different Geelong. Geelong has been on the path to ruin for decades! We lost Ford, and all surrounding businesses, the wool industry before then. My old High School they tore down, but meanwhile, there's more kids needing those buildings for an education. She goes on to say about work opportunities for young people, well what about those who are 25 or 30 plus? How about those people? I'm in my 40's? Do you want to know the list of job opportunities I get presented? I'm basically a 'write off' because of my age, and I had an employment agency tell me that! Shall we talk about housing? Oh there's plenty, you can see all the homeless living on the city streets of Geelong. That's right, Geelong! the great city 'Editor' Nadja Fleet here is talking about. Most of the shops are empty or derelict, and look dirty and disgusting. These were all shops in their glory when I was a wee lad, and I'm only talking 30 years ago! Geelong is a shit hole, I hate to say it about my home town, but they've really made a mess of the joint. This woman is so far off the mark it's not funny. C'mon Sky News, you should know better reporting this, it doesn't take much to do your own research.
