The problem with the WaPo vs. Amazon Prime subscription comparison is that Amazon Prime still overs VALUE. Bezos exerting editorial control over the Post means it no longer offers the value (of editorial independence) that it once did. Maintaining our now-useless WaPo subscriptions only serves to line Bezos' pockets for an unusable product.
