How about a reading nook or a mini office space in the space under the stairs?
I see your master plan! Keep the girls on the homestead but with their own space. Or, you are going to have the most beautiful home for wayward cats that has ever been created.
The space under the steps can be a closet with closed doors that match the shaker cabinets. Shelves for shoes and if the height allows brooms and a vacuum.
Oh, how cute the cottage will be when you get it finished. Whew, what a cleanup job that was, Lincoln. Really enjoying your arduous journey being that I’m relaxing in my “lift chair” and you two are doing all the hard lifting… enjoying your senses of humor and ability to overcome those irritable roadblocks that block your every move. I must be weird because I love watching you and Lincoln clean up rubble. So much satisfaction in the end❤️I do wish I could stay a summer in that cottage, rent free obviously since you remind us you will not be renting it out. Yes, add a washing machine and I will wash my own linen and yours as well….for my keep😉
For the mix – Very American a very large Fridge 😅 what about a 1/2 fridge and 1/2 freezer then you can extend the countertop and allow for additional storage under stairs … but what ever takes your fancy as it will be fab anyway and it’s your space ❤

Love the plans! Under the stairs would make a great space for a short platform for a dog bed nook with pull out storage underneath for the dog bowls that can roll under when not in use. Maybe some hooks for their gear. Just what I envisioned when you said it needed a purpose. Love your channel!
❤ following your progress! With as much as ya'll use a wheelbarrow, look into getting a 2 wheel wheelbarrow. They are SO MUCH EASIER to handle and much more stable than a single wheel..just a suggestion 😊

Until you replace those termite eaten beams … NO TUB FOR U! Instead of a skylight over the stairs how about a frosted glass wall to allow diffused light into the stair area? Get a concrete saw and leave 6 inches around the wall and staircase and dig out the center area for your heated floor. This way your door and fireplace and stairs keep the original foundation and you pour & level over the dug out section. Back to the beams … replace with metal! Dried OAK is hard to find because of Notre Dame rebuild.and you should take out the top floor and put down new wide wood plank. Then you can support a tub! Under the stairs … how about a seated mud spot for shoes and boots and on the wall a mop, Dyson and broom. Now for your slip n slide cottage drive … Lincoln, get the pea rock plastic dividers that you lay on the ground and fill in with rock. Helps the rock stay in place and allows drainage. Keep 3 to 4 old large sheets of particle board, drill 2 holes up top for a rope handle/pull and place down on muddy areas to rescue the Peugeot. We need to see a pic of Lincoln at 18-21 so when he does hard work, we know he channels his inner hay – days of youth and can think back “Did he ever think he’d be doing this Sh__t after 45? And one last “Joke idea” wish the rubble clean up segment had Benny Hill music, chicks in bikinis doing a cha cha train trough the cottage and the occasional worried face of Lincoln looking at the camera up close between clean up breaks. P.S. Watch the Money Pit with Tom Hanks and the hole made through the floors with a laugh.
Hard work pays off…great job so far…the cottage is going to look perfect with your antique finds ( I absolutely love the sink & stove/oven ❤❤❤). The nook under the stairs looks like a cupboard/pantry space in my opinion – as a continuation of the galley style kitchen. WHAT A GORGEOUS CHÂTEAU PROPERTY!

If this is going to be a guest house, (for family and friends) then i think a shower is going to be adequate for their stays. maybe on the stairway not a full skylight but a tube skylight. I picture a lovely piece of antique furniture (credenza/buffet) under the stairs for more kitchen storage. Oh and definitely a pocket door for the bathroom upstairs. Thanks for another great video.
Really solid shelving under the stairs? With doors so there’s no shelving visible. So basically a custom built cupboard.
I look forward to every one of your videos! Your time-lapse tour today really shows the work you have put into the cottage so far. May I suggest you build a banquet with a round table and a couple of chairs in the corner where the bar was previously? A bright cheery fabric on the banquet to brighten up the corner along with a very simple hanging light fixture over the table. Looks like you'll need someplace to store your coats and boots. Under the stairs could be the solution. Simple beadboard on the wall with hooks, cubbies under the seat, and maybe a couple of cubbies above the hooks for hats.

Large bedroom, place to put a rolltop bath …a suite feel perhaps. I don't know whether you could find privacy screens which would fit in with your chosen concept in decor. Just an idea ❤

Have you ever Seen on Pinterest the shower and bath tube reunited in the same place the shower in front of the bath tube and all enclose between walls and closed by glass door .?it could be the solution
