Full Aserai Campaign w/ Advanced Tactics: Volume XXVII: The $inews of War

Episode 27 continues on in our Aserai campaign. Things are about to get messy…

Alrighty fellas, Wazu and his band continues to cross the sands of Calradia and smash everything, from beer mugs to bandits, that crosses his path.

The Playlist(start to current) is HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUtPo13es_g&list=PLp-wn4-QvebXXASvZoMicg1lXk2D2Ub5U&index=1&t=0s

A loose schedule for this series, looks like this:

New Episode every Friday and Sunday, and sometimes Wednesday. I’ll also mix in some extra/optional episodes covering some of the finer points of the campaign: Companion planning, Weapon Loadouts, Campaign Strategy, Mods used and discussion, and more…

This campaign will (eventually) feature gigantic battles featuring ultra-powerful enemy foes in huge sprawling slugfests, always in UHD/max graphics.

  1. It’s funny you mention this just a couple hours ago I lost a battle because I didn’t position them far enough and the enemy unexpectedly rushed me and all of sudden I got 250 horse archer units mowing down my archers I got cocky I thought since the fian champs can double up as shock troops with their giant swords they’d be fine but i turn around my 2nd archer unit was gone lol so yea I’ll definitely be exaggerating how far back I put them from now on 37:07

  3. Hi,

(intro is much, much better than these previous ones)

it would be awesome if you'd ponted out the score used in intro separately – going through the whole list is kind of tiring.

'this stone will crush the enemy and many of you, and this is the sacrifice I am willing to take' (son like daddy, indeed 🙂 )

oh well.. (about paterinities) most of us were concepted because of accident, 'damaged hardware', miscalculation, substance use or general brain shortcut in the heat of the moment (not mentioning violence as a factor which is a significant if awful one) and not really because of 'will' or 'decision' 😉

Yeah it s annoying when this happens in siege – the game has not have got, unfortunatey, a proper routine to teleport out (or despawn) agents which ended in non routable areas. The only way out is still retreat and autoresolve.

So good to see you reckless and neglectfull 😀 You have made that battle so unnecessary hard just by ignoring the force composition of the enemy; many of us felt a bit better about themselves watching that. Such a 'shameful display!' 😀

Yes. These were the N.Empire clans. It's kind of debatable design – clans which are not able to join any existing kingdom (and player one is excluded from that equation) just die and game decides randomly which 2 (usualy only 2) will get lucky. You cannot enlist them while they are in that limbo either. This is a reason why I increase fertility among the clans (some have only 2 nobles at the start of the game and they are not young) and use mods like 'clan management' (spawning new random clan when some is destroyed) and 'free/unlanded clans' (additional clans in the game). This has limitations painful on my hardware because at some point there is so much NPCs that the game starts to crawl (well, someties it is because of ambition of that one Emperor who established an imperial harem and popped some ~50 kids in 20 years and that (mine) clan has ~120 mostly underaged members now, which does not help).

Even if you do not use these mods you can somewhat mitigate that 'by hand'. Get into cheats or 'Better Character Editor' mod and manually impregnate married ladies early game from different clans if they seems to be, ehm. 'neglectful' in that departament. E.g. Caladog is single (and in vanilla won't marry, you need to get him a lady manually) and have 2 daughters (one underaged) and that is for 'the ruling clan of Battania' no wonder they so often get slaughtered. They (wives) were given 'free' because of your clan strenght/reputation and the fact that both were 'old' (I mean: Corein was practically past the fertility age in game). "Hot, rich and young" are on the pricey side.

Personally I prefer to just blow the walls (if not make an assault on ruch with ladders) and from there is mostly the breeze even if the defending forces are bigger.

Yep I concur. The endurance/fatigue system would be a great thing in the game – though it might get overwhelming for the many players. And yes, it was the 'Total War thing' I have no idea if it is still in the newer ones, the series lost its charm for me since Warhammer. I loved WFRP (particularly awesome, ridiculous and funny 3/3.5 edition) as a kid and young lad in the early 2k, but 'Warhammer Wargame' (no matter if in space or in fantasy) not my cookie.

And the Col decided to tour the world in the army, with the train full of stuff and prisoners, and a few big herds of livestock. That will take a while 😀

(the stuff of ferocity from not getting laid is a nonsense, ofc. It would work for many youngligns in the form: 'be an animal today and then you will get some')

To the 'historical ramblings': Stuarts were a strange flock (and that saying is enough). The Brits were not the 1st. with the concept of, as we today say: 'sovereign debt' but were at the time the most extensive in the matter pushing the boundaries, or – well, nivelating them altogether – of (again: as we say now) 'financial responsibility' – they basicaly went into planned national default, so to speak.

The whole ordeal was possible because of – it came not in one day ofc – creating the difference between the 'state' ('the 'Crown') and the 'monarch' in mid-late medieval period – which is also connected with creation of difference between the monarchy as such, and the particular king/queen (an 'ethernal body of the king' (see Kantorowicz book)). Before that, such difference did not really exist so any 'country' was, in simplification, just a barely kept together 'family bussinesses' of different sizes and significance and almost every 'feudal' deal like homage, had to be rebuilt after departure of one of the parties (not mentioning even the funny stuff with multipart homages to the monarch fighting each other).

The 'national debt' concept was at that point necessary because the traditional taxation and extorsion strategy was insuficient and ofc there was no more working 'quick solutions' (aka: borrow from the Jews, expel or kill them, problem solved and salvation is certain). More or less at that time also the 'country' became entity which can go bankrupt but cannot be e.g. auctioned (like any other bussiness), which leads to possibility of creation the debt exceeding one's country material and financial capabilities being at the same an economical stimulus (as a state you can always roll back the debt by increasing inflation in controlled fashion, the 'controlled' is ofc. the keyword). Later the Kingdom of Prussia shall become master of managing that in intelligent way. The later Germany Empire not so much.

"For the 1st time" it was not. The great medieval buildings (like cathedrals) were built that way – by the whole community participating (including 'working ladies') financially and in labor, support and resources (and that was for the most part – willing participation). Late medieval Italian wars were financed in similar way, though there wasn't the theoretical and political framework for that at the time, yet. France at the time you are speaking about, did the same (Colbert was the French counterpart) but they could not sustain that for long mostly because of existing amount of debt and other problems (war on multiple fronts is rarely won). The romantic version of the affair you can find reading Dumas' 'Musketeers' ofc/ 😉 On the other side you can say that the French invented 'financial lottery' as a way to enrich the few and bankrupt anybody else, including the state, but that came later.

    Thanks for sharing the fun.

  4. It's a good point that the people of the nations always suffer. The British Empire was absolutely catastrophic for British people. Many industries were destroyed, trade was totally undermined and many British citizens were kidnapped off the streets and forced to fight for the Empire! England has an incredibly dark history and modern day Britain is a surprisingly poor and unpleasant place to live for the average citizen. There is little prosperity here outside of London.
