  1. There are elements of the Prosperity Gospel in the Jewish faith.
It is rooted in why people conceived of deity to begin with. They imagined forces of nature to have a consciousness behind them, and that the disasters were happening intentionally to them, so they reasoned that if they could placate those deities, get them to stop hurting people, they'd be a leg up. That then morphed into appealing to these deities for them to show favor on them, to bless them with ease. (Yahweh started out as a volcano god.) This is a materialistic notion of God.
Even now that mindset still permeates our culture with insurance labeling those forces "acts of God." Technically, they should be labeled 'acts of physics.'

  2. Matthew 7:21-23
    New King James Version
    I Never Knew You
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

  3. my relationship with my parents has been destroyed by this despicable prosperity gospel, going on 10 years now, they refuse to admit that it's an ungodly take on the scriptures but it's their source of income, they are there because without that false gospel and the enablers that surround them their gray train ends….

  4. When I was told by a devoutly Evangelical/ Pentecostal friend that I shouldn't give financial support to a child in poverty, so she can get a good education, because if the parents were doing the right thing God would reward them, while my friend who gives 0 to any charity was also telling me God wanted her to have a new kitchen ,even though there was 0 wrong with the old one, I knew that somewhere in her religious education something had gone awry. Prosperity Gospel of Satan.

  5. To be fair, the OT prophets do suggest that God brings prosperity or suffering to Israel based on how well they are following God.

Prosperity Gospel is just a perversion of that belief.

  6. Thank you Reverend & Brother I learned this the hard way. Because my former home church I never forget even that I was the Sunday School Director . I had a car accident and I stopped working and had to withdraw part of my 401k to survive until my federal employee retirement started and the only income was my wife. We had a tradition of the couples to pray over the tithe and there was a list for the whole year. Without me knowing our names were removed because they got used to my tithe but we were not giving as much as we used to. When I gave my tithe I never expected anything back and I remember them telling me I could provide the receipts for all the expenses out of my pocket I was spending in the ministry I was in charge and other ministries that I was involved too so I could claim it in my taxes that I didn’t care because I did it for love and to help without any rewards . I never forget they asked us to cover a couple that missed church a Sunday and I asked the Holy Spirit guide me and take over my prayer and I don’t even remember what I said or the words out of my mouth but different people reacted differently. This was an Assembly of God Church and even that I grew Catholic I’ve been a member of different denominations and I’ll never forget when I joined them I had to be 2 years in a class with the Pastor’s wife before I could join the other classes. After 2 months the Pastor’s wife told us you don’t need to be in this class anymore because she kept asking how I had so much understanding and I told her since I was a little child I listened to the Gospel and you’re a sponge and I didn’t memorize or retained what the priest homily but I kept it in my heart. When I was in the Catholic Church I wasn’t asked for a percentage or give for anything in return because I knew all he asked me to follow him. No matter where you are in this world and live my life as he asked us just simply by very basic teachings that I learned from him in the Gospel and one day he’ll be the judge that I truly believe is going to be welcome home. This is not my home here in the world everything will dissolve and be gone and I’m not taking anything with me from this world. I just hope and pray the Lord opens our eyes and these false and selfish teachings that people are believing in it come to realize that Prosperity Gospel isn’t a true Christian teaching but that doesn’t mean that you have to work hard to make a living for what we need and whenever help other in needs and it can be as simply sharing a meal; my dad always said where 2 or 3 eat there’s enough to feed 4 or more. I missed my dad and mom they live their life by example.

  7. The prosperity gospel is biblical. It's when the devil tempted Christ because Jesus was hungry and thirsty. It has nothing to do with tithing. Tithing is about helping others in need. Big difference between greedy and needy.

  8. I keep thinking of the movie, with George Burns, "Oh God! You Devil." The third movie in that franchise. The plot line, in that movie, is very much an example of the fallacy of the prosperity gospel, but a lot more obvious. But the idea was that someone was going for the quick road to worldly riches, and it wasn't just a coincidence that George played both roles, in that movie.

  9. This discussion has me thinking a LOT about the concept of right relationship, which is heavily emphasized within my practice of Irish Paganism. Those folks practicing the prosperity gospel, are not in right relationship with their God. 🙁 It’s disrespect. We are also taught to not treat our relationships with our gods as vending machines. Thank you rev, for the perspective. ❤ You are much appreciated. You bring me great comfort.

  10. The programs that Trump and his merry sycophants want to eliminate are all based in “helping” others”. The MAGA’s are hell bent on destroying anything and anyone that can’t stand up for themselves! How unchristian can they be? I gladly pay my taxes because I have a general understanding of how they are used. Schools, roads, infrastructure, government operations, military and programs to help lift people out of a jam. Knowing the rich want to steal from the poor is not what makes America great!

  11. You all have been sold a bill from SATAN. The BIBLE SAYS EE AS CHRISTIAN ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE LINDER NOT THE BORROWER, so SATAN COMES ALONG WITH A WORD INTHE BIBLE SAYING THAT YOU AS CHRISTIAN ARE NOT TO HAVE MONEY BECAUSE GOD SAID “its the root of all EVIL”,! So now the EVIL PEOPLE HAVE MOST OF THE MONEY. YOU ARE JUST NOT TO PUT YOUR “FAITH “, IN YOUR RICHES, BUT IN GOD. ITS NOT WRONG TO BE RICH. HOW CAN YOU HELP TO SPREAD THE GOSPEL IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO LIVE ON?? GOD HAS SAID COME TO HIM FIRST AND ALL THESE THINGS WILL BE ADDED!

  12. Well, I certainly agree on the name and claim it grab it snag it health, wealth, prosperity for all gospel. I generally don’t talk about politics. It will do nothing to enlarge the kingdom of God. It can enlarge the kingdom of Hell. You have been bringing up politics a lot for the last three weeks. You have mentioned everything you think is wrong with DJT. Can you name two things that KH stood for/stands for that would’ve been good for this country and its people? One of these two were going to win! The green party was not going to win.

  13. Hadn't considered that Trump's MAGA is an extension of the prosperity gospel, and you are correct. One irony is that Trump is being funded by the wealthiest who don't even make a claim to being Christian, and for those that do, such as fossil fuel giants, they are most likely using the name for their own gain / game. I'm hanging on by a thread as a believer, seeing the corruption of the Church, even in my own family and neighbors. Your messages soothe me, and bolster my faith. So, thank you and God bless you, Reverend Ed.

  14. Some accuse Pastor Joel Osteen of teaching the 'prosperity. gospel'. But to me his message is more about having faith, despite appearances, and sticking with your innervision or creative ideas. It's about seeing God's hand in our daily lives, etc. If people have opposing views to this, I'm okay with discussing them.

  15. The " prosperity gospel" is pure bullshit sold by grifters. This is what Jesus said about "rich" men (like Trump) in The Gospel According to Saint Matthew and you really should go over this in one of your videos here:

19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
19:20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 19:24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

And that's directly related to The Acts of the Apostles starting at: verse 4:32

4:32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
4:33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
4:34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
4:35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

  16. "My Kingdom is not of this world". The heretics in the prosperity gospel congregations, with their BLASPHEMY, cater only for the materialists and exploiters. JW's do it, LSD's do it. The Davidians did it. Can you see the common link?
