“FORCED TO SHUT DOWN” | Real Life Trucking – Husband & Wife Team Owner Operators

Episode No. 190

**********************************

Alice & Martin are husband & wife owner operators based out of Northern California running a 2009 Kenworth W900 with over 1.1 million miles and counting.

After managing a Linehaul fleet at FedEx Ground for 5 years and losing that job they returned to their trucking roots in 2021 as team drivers leased with Ceva and in 2022 choose to reactivate their own authority focusing on running the spot market hauling flatbed freight – however as the spot market began to falter Alice & Martin opted to close the authority, sell the trailer and return back to Ceva once again.

This channel has been created to share the how to’s, successes and yes, failures of owning and operating your own trucking company. This is real life trucking, nothing is withheld or edited out to make it look glamorous or pretty.

  1. Great fix Martin!….I like to retighten in a criss cross pattern, maybe it makes no difference? Who watches the kids when you two are on the road? Grandparents?

  2. Alice. Given that you have to divert due to the adverse climatical conditions are you able to submit a claim for the extra fuel the truck is using.? PS Nice "clips" of the railroad freight movement – hopefully you will get a chance to "pace" a freight sometime… Martin.. Full marks to solving leaks and problems – it's just what I had to do few decades ago.

  3. Looking GOOD 😎 Alice I thought you was going to take the cup over there by the door and sit there and say will you please help we owner operators 😂🤣😂🤣😂❤ Only way to do it Martin , if you can do it fix it right on the road , that is how we done it back in a day, I used to have all the tools , I could pull a big Cam 400 down right in the truck stop parking lot , do a inframe as long as the top block was good To reset liners and make sure counterboars were good no cracks , Or pull the transmission out ,
be safe take care yourselves 😎

  6. Well dang in the 80’s I always had to hit with a sledgehammer or a tire break down type hammer 🤯😂😎 they had the little slotted rings that went in every other hole 😩Martin knows the type 😎Rickster. And yea I thought Martin was gonna pee in that cup 🙈😂😂

  7. That weather advisory for Donner Pass was interesting. Locals with a Truckee address on their license were allowed to continue but truckers and everyone else were turned around. I think I’d prefer truckers with at least two years of winter driving under their belts, to have the option to continue onward!
