Join me as I discuss one of the best survival horror games of all time… which is also made by the creator of Silent Hill! It’s a longer vid than I’m used to making, but I hope you enjoy this retrospective type vid!

Thank you to Miki Takahashi and @BokehGameStudio for answering some questions I had! Link to the interview:

  1. Great video! Would also love to see your thoughts on Siren 2 as it has some of the most unique and inspired survival horror mechanics (The seeing eye dog is my favorite)

  2. YES MORE VIDEOS ON THIS WONDERFULLY TERRIFYING SERIES!
I use to have nightmares of the shibito! Turned into good memories. I was always too scared to actually play the games though, except for blood curse which is the most forgiving of the three games. I should play the original PS2 games for Halloween.

  3. Oh wow, I would not have had the patience for this game as a kid BUT I would have loved to watch a playthrough. I simply never heard of it. Resident Evil 2 was my intro to horror action games. Still this video details a riveting story that I would have gobbled up at any age. Amazing video!

  4. One small contribution to the idea of fate and inevitability that's worth noting (although man this video is thorough) – Naoko was actually born and raised in Hanuda. There's something deeply depressing about how she, Risa and Tamon left the village and could have, theoretically, lived perfectly normal lives, but they were all drawn back just as the village was consumed. You get the impression that it's less bad luck and more that none of Hanuda can escape its curse.

  5. 30 minutes in and I have to drop off to go back and play this myself. I'm hyped play a game I loved as a kid that we never made much progress in because it was just too darn scary. I'll be back when I'm done! Thanks for the inspiration and happy halloween!

  6. Having interest in mythology, i do find dasushi (due to its fishy attributre) paralel with the legend of japanese ningyo (mermaid). Meat of ningyo in mythology are rumored to grant immortal life as a curse. One of its depiction of the curse is about the daugther of a fisherman eating strange fish and later become a 800 years nun (yaobikuni) after being cursed as immortal which also pararel certain antagonist in the game.
