  1. It’s about the psychology of eating food! How much you eat really depends on why you eat it. Our modern minds have been conditioned for disordered eating. Why are you eating your chips and what is happening to make you want to eat more than the 15 chips that is typically a serving size of chips?

  2. I’m overweight. I acknowledge i have mental and emotional issues for which food is my vice/escape. I guarantee if you asked anyone who knows me, they would just say I’m fat, but perfectly normal otherwise. A very happy person. Nope. But I do not blame food manufactures – it’s 100% on me.

  3. So when my doctor tells me that I need a high carb, high sugar, high fat diet so I can consume the 4500 calories I need in a day to not waste away and starve. I'm an addict? I mean when I first joined the service when I was 20 the Navy tried to beat my metabolism. 7,000 calories a day mandated by a Letter of Instruction netted me a whopping 3 pounds after 6 months.

  4. Umm, no. Chemicals and compounds can have physically addictive properties. People being too weak to put down their fork, doesn’t miraculously make something addictive. Facts matter, chemistry matters, and biology matters. Sorry, absolutely not sorry.

  5. Imagine being addicted to something that you absolutely have to have in order to live. The thing you’re addicted to is absolutely everywhere, handed out free, at every family/social gathering, offends people if you refuse it, and people will literally go out of their way to try to force you to have “just one more bite”, is broken down in categories of good and bad and the list changes almost on the daily. I’ve never done drugs, so I can’t speak to it, but I do know there’s no coping skill to abstain when hunger hits, There’s no phone a friend to talk you off the ledge. Most doctors can’t even agree or get it right on what will help a patient be successful. I’m not saying it’s as addictive, but it’s a lifelong daily battle that’s equally if not more challenging to kick.

  6. That's some bs. Put a fat guy who eats chips everyday and a opiate user who doses everyday, on a room, and take away their addiction. You will find extremely different reactions. Fat guy disappointed, and gets healthier, opiate guy gets violently ill.

  7. Addiction is actually a mental disorder…
    If you do not have self control, the addiction will take over.
    Unfortunately, children are not taught self control, they are left to their whims…

  8. You can get addicted to anything, my brother is addicted to English type tea, he used to work as a chef and would have a pint mug of tea on the go literally all day while working in the kitchen
    Every time he drank and emptied it he would go straight to the urn and fill it up again.
    [If I open a pack of cookies I can’t stop until I’ve eaten the whole packet… I guess I’m addicted to those.]
