  1. So the plane crashed into the mountain between 19K and 20K feet after you told them to descend to 18K feet.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out what went wrong.

  2. Pierce Brosnan is my favorite Bond too Simon. A friend of mine was working at a Costco in Hawaii on one of the islands that Mr. Brosnan owns a home on. She spotted him while she was working, but he was apparently trying not to be noticed. He saw the recognition in her eyes, and in a very Bond style, he held his finger to his lips in the universal "shhh" motion. He then walked over, read her name tag, and simply said her name, then she said to him "Mr. Bond." This was well after Daniel Craig had taken over. He was so pleased she saw him that way, that he gave her a big smile, a wink, said "thank you," then turned around and walked away……..very much (as she tells it) like James Bond (with a scruffy beard)……….

  3. Dude, "Controlled flight into terrain" means:
"The pilot flew the plane into a mountain."
"Controlled flight" means the plane was UNDER CONTROL, which means:
"The pilot flew the plane into a mountain." What more do you NEED?

  4. Very nearly every single thing an airline pilot does is done out of an abundance of caution. That's why airliners almost never crash. They are always abundantly cautious, and then some.

  5. If you're going to engineer a machine capable of flying immense distances at high altitudes and high speeds, don't you think you'd engineer devices (Cockpit Voice Recorders and Flight Data Recorders) such that they'd realistically survive a catastrophe like, I don't know, flying into the side of a mountain at high speed? Use your head, man!

  6. Guy spends literally thousands of hours a year reading scripts about interesting and in-depth subjects, yet after four years of watching him I'm still asTOUNDed by how little this poor guy seems to know about the world. Especially his CSI Watcher expectations of what police can do. Like EVERY crime being solved because unlimited personnel and SCIENCE!!!

  7. I can just imagine the future archaeologist…human bone in one hand, Caiman skin in the other…and coming to the conclusion that their ancestors were lizard people.

  8. Close, Simon a plane has to land at faster speeds at higher altitudes because the air is thinner. But its not because there's less air resistance to stop the plane. its because the plane stalls at slower speeds because not enough air is getting over the wings to produce lift. So you have to go faster to get the same amount of lift

  9. My famvorite Bonds are Sean Connery and pierce brosnan. It helps pierce brosnan's reputation that one of the first wildy successful multiplayer First person shooter game was Goldeneye for the 64. Pierce played bond in Goldeneye.

  10. If there were a hypothetical bomb, there are many variables that go into the possible outcome of the explosion. Depending on where people sat and where the bomb went off, it could lead to the cabing losing pressure, making the captain crash into the mountain. Considering they were trying to land, people would have been buckled in, and once again depending on the location of the bomb would explain why there would still be people on the plane rather sucked out of it. Upon plane crash, the black box could be damaged as said due to its possible position near the jet engines. A final note, bodies and blood would be buried in the snow. I think it is safe to assume bodies are lighter than huge scraps of a wrecked plane meaning they could have been carried away faster and further than the plane pieces.

  11. It's not your memory, Simon. You just make too many videos, and have too many channels, to possibly remember them all. And Pierce Brosnan is my favourite Bond too, but I grew up with Roger Moore as Bond (I'm GenX).

  12. The music was a bit ott on this one. Super distracting and annoying. I am 10 minutes in, loving the story, but about to turn it off because of it. Probably just me.

  13. wasn't a bomb. as noted earlier… avalanches…they started the search late, stuff moved. no hints of a bombing. imo it was inexperienced pilots, alternate route, bad weather…

  14. High explosive has a shock wave that travels faster than the speed of sound. So unless the jet was going faster than that is is very possible a High explosive placed near the recorders could have done more damage than flying into a mountain. I believe they may be protected more from fire. Buy I am no engineer.

  15. Indigenous people living in the Andes of Peru and Bolivia have ancestors that have lived above 13k for almost 3 thousand years. These people tend to have skin that stays red most of the time. They have more capillaries and increased blood flow near the skin surface. They also have more red blood cells to help get oxygen around their bodies. Plus they have a faster rate of breathing.
There's a village in Tibet where the people have lived at 15k feet for thousands of years. They found at least 10 oxygen making genes that people living at lower altitude don't have.
Something else I read once said that living at higher altitude have lower chance of heart related issues but have higher chances of developing dementia.

  16. If you were gonna plant a bomb to covertly bring down a plane, the black box would be a good place to attach it. Avoiding all the "mayday mayday, suffered explosion going down from…. probably a bomb…. avenge us" unpleasantness coming to light.

  17. I saw pictures of the JAL 123 crash site and if bodies survived that.. then the bodies survived this crash. Very similar crash too. Both hit a mountain.
What I'm guessing is the plane could have struck the mountain, creating a rapid decomposition that sucked out passengers.
Another thing I find strange is that during a plane crash the investigators are supposed to take pictures or confirm all the parts..
    This was a strange investigation.

  18. Mh17 Was shot down over the Donbas Region in Ukraine by Russian Separatists/Russian Soldiers disguised as Separatists who used Russian Missile Systems.

The International Investigation Team led by the Dutch had to go there with Russian Separatists Controlling all their movements.
They found parts of the missile stuck in the Cockpit Fuselage and had to trick the Russian Separatists whille taking the parts and hiding them.

The air Crash Investigation Episode is a good watch.
