  1. For the Mariner the reason that piece comes off is so if theres binding further down the rods and gears then you dont over torque and break something further down. Its "disposable" but easily reparable. The adhesive that held it for so long just failed.

  2. Mariner Yamaha mercury have a feature where you can’t over rev the engine if you put it into gear you will see it will open the carbs if not then check all the gears cables I work on Japanese outboards for a living & certified

  3. The Mariner 15 is a great running motor that I used quite heavily but while one can reinstall an OMC lower unit with an arm tied in its back, Mariners/Mercurys are a fight all the way, same as performing about any maintenance issue on those. Regards !

  4. Popped up on my feed. Been doing this 10 years as a hobby. You work on motors exactly the way I do. It's nice selling a perfect running motor. It's nice seeing them back on the water and someone happy with a older motor.

  5. I've always had OMC engines but would consider the Mariner I would as it's electric start would be perfect as a 76 year old veteran would love to go fishing before my time runs out . Is that a 15 or 20 inch ? & What state do you live ?
